Campion, Alice Arias, 87, passed away peacefully surrounded
by her children on February 18, 2013. Alice was born in Tampa, Florida on
November 24, 1925. She graduated Valedictorian of her class from the
University of Tampa with a degree in Business Administration. She was a
lifelong, active member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. In 1945, Alice met a young serviceman, Harold Campion,
at the USO. Alice and Harold were married in June 1949 and together, they
raised three children. She had a distinguished 30-year teaching career in
the Orange County Public School system where she was instrumental in developing
the ESL program. Alice was active in the Orlando Opera Guild, West Orange
Women's Club, Research & Engineering Organization for spouses of Lockheed
Martin, and she also volunteered at the Orlando Science Center. She enjoyed
playing bridge, gardening, reading, attending opera and symphony and spending
time with her family and friends. Alice is survived by her husband
Harold, of 63 years; son Alan Campion, his wife Ellen Blair Smith, and
daughters, Blair and Alison, of Austin, Texas; daughter Barbara Campion
Lietzke, her husband Keith and daughters, Lauren and Mia, of Newton,
Massachusetts; son Neal Campion, of Atlanta, Georgia; sister Yolanda Arias
Sparacino, of Brooklyn, New York; and cousin Dr. Doralys Arias, of Heathrow,
Florida. Alice was a loving wife and mother, and devoted
friend. She will be dearly missed and her memory cherished by all
who knew her. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to
a charity of your choice, perhaps honoring her lifelong dedication to
education. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Dr. Phillips Cemetery, Apopka-Vineland Road.
