Mr. Eric David Sebastian James was born in St. Georges, Grenada, West Indies, on December 16, 1932. Eric grew up in Grenada and graduated at the Presentation College in St. Georges Grenada. Eric had different nick names. One of his most affectionate is "Buddy:Buddy" Eric is loved by everyone he came in contact with and leaves a very good lasting impression. In Grenada Eric was a teacher at the Beaulieu Catholic School. He went and joined Granbys' Stores and then British American Insurance Company. Eric became a leader in all his endeavors in Grenada and then left for the United States where he joined the United Nations team in New York. Eric continued his education at Brooklyn College in New York and graduated. Eric met his wife Gertrude Mitchell and was married for forty years. Eric responded to the call to duty for the United Nations Field Operation Office in Cambodia when that part of the world became one of the most unsafe places to be. he served for a number of years and had a wealth of experience to share with friends and family. As a sport Eric took up hunting and knew every river, ravine, mountain and valley in Grenada. Eric was quite a marksman with his hunting rifle. Eric retired from the United Nations and moved to Florida with his wife Gertrude. After retirement, Eric could not stand not being productive; her therefore joined the Rosen Hotel and Resorts team in Orlando, Florida and became a model employee. Eric leaves behind his wife Gertrude, three daughters Yolande, Eileen, and Constance and two sons Lincoln and Louis. He had eight grandchildren and four great-grand children. The family will be receiving friends from 6 - 8 pm on Thursday, October 20th, 2011 at Dobbs Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 21st, 2011 at St. Andrew Catholic Church followed by interment at Winter Garden Cemetery.
