Bernice W. Fuller


August 3, 1932 - August 19, 2019


Bernice Winstead Fuller  was born in Elm City NC  Aug. 3, 1932 the second child of Elizabeth (Lizzie) Boykin and Jerome (G) Winstead.

She spent her early years in Wilson NC and moved to  Brooklyn, New York City in 1941 at nine years of age to live with  her mother and brother Jerome Jr. (Snook).

She attended elementary , High School through college in NYC earning Nursing credentials  of LPN (1965) and RN (1986) degrees with additional certifications. 

She was married to the late Mr. Willie H. Fuller for several years before he passed away.

In 1989 she relocated to Wilson NC enjoying a wonderful twenty-three years re-meeting her family and enjoying meaningful times with her maternal & paternal aunts / uncles and other relatives. She continue to work in the field of Nursing earning additional certification from the University of NC in Public Health Nursing (1992).

In 2012 she moved to Orlando FL spending her final seven years with her daughter and son-in-law. She was an active member of the Victoria Place community. She was known and well liked because she walked around her block at least five times daily and her neighbors came to love her for her friendly disposition.

She leaves to cherish precious memories her daughter and son-in-law, L. Grey and Ken Sturgill of Orlando.  Five Grandchildren - A. Danyiel Winstead,  Fatima Watson,  Nyesha Watson,  
L. Tuesdai Winstead, five great-grand children, one great-great grandchild Myracle, daughter -law Darcella J. Winstead.

She is also survived by her special cousins Rev. Roosevelt Winstead, Ms. Joan Boykin, Ms. Jean Ballard, Mr. Ricardo Winstead* as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Special cat Izzy.
She was preceded in death by her son Gregory S. Winstead (2010), Brother Jerome (Snook) Winstead Jr. (1982).

A Memorial Service will be held:
Sunday 2pm, September 29, 2019
