Pooran Persaud

Pooran  Persaud,  age 68, of  Orlando, FL, passed away Saturday, April 27th, 2013 at Health Central Hospital in Ocoee.   Pooran  was born in Belvedere, Guyana,  on April 6th, 1945, the son of the late Hilira  and Atwaroo  Persaud.  He was a farmer in the agriculture industry. 
 
Pooran was preceded in death by his son Hymchand Persaud (2000) and leaves to cherish his memory, wife Lilaawattie  (Shnauth)  Persaud of Orlando; three daughters, Segronia Persaud, of Guyana; Latchmie Kalicharan, of Orlando; Tajwantie Persaud, of Guyana;  two sons Charrandeo Persaud, of Trinidad; Dhanpaul Persaud, of Trinidad; several brothers and sisters and 12 grandchildren.
 
Visitation and service will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Dobbs Funeral Home from 5:00 until 9:00 pm.

Jeanne E. Horn

Jeanne E. Horn,  age 82, of  Orlando, passed away  Thursday, April 25th, 2013.  Her experience record with the physically challenged spans more than 50 years, with 35 years spent as a Sign Language Interpreter for the hearing impaired.  Born in Cliff, Long Island, NY,  the daughter of Wesley and Jeanne Amanda  (Mathews) Van Dyke, she attended and was certified at Gallaudet College for the Deaf in Washington, DC as a sign language interpreter.    Jeanne's career led her to employment with the Helen Keller Center for the Deaf/Blind, Disney World, the Easter Seal Society, a Daycare Center for cocaine babies, Director of Physically Challenged Services at a three campus college, and many others. 
 
As a volunteer, Jeanne's services were invaluable at nursing homes and as a certified trainer with the Department of Health and Rehabilitation Serices of Central Florida.  Jean's church is St. Mary of the Angels Episcopal  and she has served in many other denominations as a volunteer sign language interpreter.  Her major areas of interest were in story-telling, teaching Bible studies and leading current events discussions. She also led in-service training workshops and communications classes for Village church members at Good Samaritan Village in Kissimmee, doing 20 one-on-one visits per week with the residents.   Many have benefited from her expertise inclusive of physicians offices, emergency rooms, ICUs, Hospice, etc. and her services were free of charge.
 
Jeanne is predeceased by her son David, who was a Long Island Fire Department Chief and her son Kenneth who was a show director of Walt Disney World in Orlando.  Another piece of interesting data bout her family is that her great grandmother was an American Indian who was killed in a prairie fire.  Jeanne leaves to cherish her memory, friend and Health Surrogate Bruce Wohl of Orlando and friend and Executor Alexandra (Sandy) Harp., plus a host of other sorrowing friends.  She will be missed by all who had the privilege to know her. 
 
Public visitation will be held at Dobbs Funeral Home on Thursday, May 2, 2013 from 6:00 until 9:00 pm.  The funeral service will be held at St. Mary of the Angels Episcopal Church , located at 6316 Matchett Rd, Orlando 32809 at 12:00 noon, followed by interment at Dr. Phillips Cemetery in Orlando. 

Luisa Velasquez

Luisa Velasquez, loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, peacefully entered the gates of Heaven on Friday, April 26, 2013 in Winter Garden, FL at the age of 84.  Luisa was born in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico, on June 20, 1928, to the late Josephina (Colon)  and Serephin  Ortiz.  She was a shining example of generosity, faith, and compassion.  Fun-loving and vibrant, Luisa dedicated her life to nurturing her family and serving the Lord with unconditional love and devotion.  She gave of her time and talents endlessly throughout years of service and leadership at Sacred Heart Chapel in Lorain, Ohio, serving as president of the Ladies Society, and holding leadership roles within the Charismatic movement, the Cursillos, and numerous other organizations. Luisa loved to praise God through music, s inging and plaing the tambourine in the church choir.  She was a gifted seamstress and cook, often using her skills to help others in need.

Cherishing her memory and carrying on her  legacy of love, are husband Luis Velasquez of Winter Garden; son Edwin Velasquez  (wife Robin) of Winter Garden, daughter Nicza Carrion (husband Louis)  of Windermere, as well as her  adoring grandchildren Stefanie Davis (husband Rick), Eddie Velasquez (wife Teri), Mindy Colon (husband Will), Vanessa Velasquez and Jesse Carrion (wife Valery);   and great grandchildren Melina and Marisa Davis, Jaxden and Giana Colon. 
The family will be welcoming friends and honoring Luisa's life at Dobbs Funeral Home on Monday, April 29, 2013 from 6:00 until 9:00 pm.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Resurrection Catholic Church at 11:30 am on Tuesday, April 30, 2013, followed by interment at Winter Garden Cemetery.    A reception will be held in the Parish Center at Resurrection Catholic Church immediately following.

Pariag

Pariag, age 92, of  Orlando, FL, passed away Friday, April 19, 2013 at his residence with family by his side.  He was born in West Coast, Guyana,  on May 27, 1920, a son of the late Radhamanie and Etwooro.  Pariag was self employed owning several cane farms.
 
Pariag is preceded in death by brothers Naldadallall, Sase and sister Bettey.  He leaves to cherish his memory, children, Indar, Indra, Jewan, Rohit, Chano, Savitree, Kamla, Radha, Rohan; 24 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.  He  is also survived by a sister, Data; and two brothers, Kupchand and Seeram. 
 
The family will be receiving friends at Dobbs Funeral  Home on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 from 6:00 until 9:00 pm.  Services and interment will be continued in Toronto Canada on Friday, April 26, 2013.

Dolores Marie Janavitz


Dolores Marie Janavitz age 91 of  Orlando, FL, wife of the late Michael J. Janavitz, passed away Friday, April 19, 2013 at Lake Bennett Health & Rehab Center, Ocoee, Florida.   Dolores was born in Cleveland, Ohio,  the daughter of the late Blanche (Skuzeska) and  Lawrence Drevitch.  She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church Orlando.  
 
 Dolores leaves to cherish her memory, her only daughter, Peggy (Paul) Smith, of Orlando;  brother, Alexander (Rosemary) Drevitch, of Pittsburgh, PA. ; grandchildren, Michael P. Smith (Linda Sitek-Smith) of Orlando; Deborah M. Lenaghen (Dana Lenaghen) of Holland-Patent, N.Y.and 1 great-grandson Stephon Lenaghen.  The family will be receiving friends at Dobbs Funeral Home on Monday, April 22, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. 
 
 A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at  Holy Family Catholic Church, Orlando  at 10:00 am on Tuesday, April 23, 2013  with Father William Ennis officiating.   Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Alice Christine Waldrop

Alice Christine Waldrop, age 80, of  Orlando, passed away Wednesday, April 10th, 2013.    Alice was born in Big Stone Gap, VA on April 17, 1932, the daughter of the late Cleo (Shelton)  and Louie  Reach.  She was employed as a bookkeeper and member of  Tabernacle Baptist Church Orlando, Super Seniors, Home League of Salvation Army, Retired RSVP Seniors Volunteer Program.
 
She leaves to cherish her memory,  daughter, P.J. Waldrop, of Orlando;  two sisters, Anna Reach, of Georgia; and  Marilyn Layman, of Virginia.  The family will be receiving friends at Tabernacle Baptist Church, located at 6000 W. Colonial Drive, Orlando on Friday, April 19, 2013 from 12:00 until 1:00p and from 5:00 - 7:00 pm.    The funeral service will be held at the church at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 20th,  with Pastor Steve Ware officiating.   Interment will be at Chapel Hill Cemetery following the service.

Irene B. Laubenthal

Irene B. Lauenthal, age 88 passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2013.  She was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan the daughter of Joseph and Antoinette (Rusilowski) Wierzgacz.  Irene moved to Central Florida from Grand Rapids in 1966 and was employed as a secretary for Martin Marietta Aerospace Company.   She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Orlando.

Irene leaves to cherish her memory, sons James Michael (Sandra) Laubenthal of Portland, OR, Thomas E. (Barbara) Laubenthal of Champagne, IL, Patrick John (Sally) Laubentha of Ocoee, FL; daughters Anne (John) Akers of Oviedo, Nancy Laubenthal of Winter Springs, FL; 8 grandchilldren and 1 great-grandchild.

The family will be receiving friends at Dobbs Funeral ome on Thursday, April 18, 2013 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm.  The funeral mass wll be held at St. Andrew Catholic Church on Friday, April 19, 2013 at 10:00 am with Father Leo Hodges officiating followed by interment at Woodlawn Memoral Park Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Irene's name to St. Andrew Catholic Church.

Kenneth Edward Gregory, Sr.

Kenneth Edward Gregory, Sr. age 71, passed away Saturday April 13, 2013.  He was born in Swainsboro, GA the son of Lee and Alma (Boyd) Gregory.  He was employed as an automobile mechanic and electrician.   
 
 He is preceded in death by two sons, Keith and Clifton Gregory.   Married to Peggy Davis and survived by sons, Kenneth Jr., Bayou Louis, LA, Stacy Gregory, Sanford;  Daughter Cynthia Apple, Tavares;  brother, Troy Gregory of Orlando; sister, Agnes Robertson-Veal of Wrightsville, GA. 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.    The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, April 18, 2013 from 1:00 – until service time at 2:00 pm. , with Pastor Thomas Hensley officiating at Dobbs Funeral Home.

Arnim Andrew Metivier

Arnim Andrew Metivier, 87, of  Orlando, passed away at  Sunday, April 7th, at VITAS Hospice at Quality Care, Winter Garden.  He was born in Trinidad, West Indies,  the son of the late Virginia (Connor)  and Frederick  Metivier.   He was a member of First Baptist Church of Orlando; Fraternal Order of Odd Fellows  and was employed as a  Mechanic/Manager in a machine shop.
 
Arnim leaves to cherish his memory, wife Justina (Regis) Metivier of Orlando; son Frederick Metivier, of Orlando;  two brothers, Renwick Metivier (Grace), of New York; Anthony Metivier (Margaret), of Trinidad;  four sisters, Sheila Joseph, of New York; Patsy Rechier, of Trinidad; Sylvia Hall (Paul), of Miami; Hazel Frances, of Miami.  and grandchildren, Alexandria and Christian Metivier.
 
The family will be receiving friends from 12:00 until 1:00 pm on Friday, April 12th, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Orlando (Henry Chapel), Orlando, FL.  The service will follow visitation.

Joshua Aaron Goble


JJoshua Aaron Goble, 28, of Tangerine, Florida, passed away Thursday, April 4th, 2013 in Orlando.  Joshua was born in Orlando the son of Robert Ray  and Martie J (Wiggins) Goble.  He was employed as a technician in elevator maintenance and was a Jehovah's Witness.

He leaves to cherish his memory, parents Robert Goble of Sneedville, TN; Martie Wiggins of Orlando; stepmother Rebecca Goble of Sneedville, TN; wife Tina Lopez-Goble of Orlando;   three daughters, Emiona Lopez-Turner, Amora Lopez-Goble, Honesty Lopez-Goble all of Ocoee;  and brother Jedidiah Goble of Illinois.

The family will be receiving friends from 1:00 until 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Dobbs Funeral Home.  The service will start at 2:00 pm with Joshua's father, Rev. Robert  R. Goble, officiating.

Zelma Louise Duncan

Zelma Louise Wiley Duncan, 89,  Born January 28th, 1924 in Salvisa, KY, Zelma Louise Wiley was the daughter of Lytle and Lucy Wiley, and sister to Delbert, Dora, Frank and Nel. Zelma married Edward D. Duncan of Mill Springs, KY, on the 20th of August, 1943.

While Pat was serving in Indo-China, Zelma worked at the Curtis-Wright aircraft plant on the site of the current Louisville International Airport in Louisville, KY. Following the war, the couple returned to Harrodsburg, where Zelma worked for Seagrams and Owens-Corning Glassware.

In 1962, the family moved to Florida with their three children, Douglas, Leisa and Elizabeth. By 1965, Pat was working for Walt Disney World, and Zelma as a real estate agent in Orlando.

Zelma passed away quietly on March 30, 2013. She is survived by her husband Edward D. Duncan, son Douglas P. Duncan and daughters, Leisa D. Duncan Caravello, and Elizabeth D. Duncan Perry. She is missed by her family, including her ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

The memorial service will be held at 11 am on Friday, April 5, 2013 at United Methodist of Pine Hills in Orlando. Steven Nolan, Pastor, will be officiating.

Body donated to UCF College of Medicine for medical research & education to benefit others.
