In Memory of Bhupendra C. Patel
On Monday, August 19, 2019, Bhupendra Patel, known as BC,
—loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, father-in-law, and
friend—passed away at the age of 70.
BC was born in Nairobi, Kenya as was his family. There, he
worked for many years as an accountant and financial advisor and tax
consultant. He was also a businessman and a curious and gifted learner who
started ventures related to the stock exchange, retail, computers, gems, and
horses. He moved to the U.S. in 2000.
He loved people and struck up conversations with everyone.
He was a deep thinker and cared about current events occurring globally. He was
passionate about family, food, and politics. He enjoyed cooking and was a
master at curries. He had stories for days and advice for everyone. He
advocated for young people to vote and be politically engaged. He fought for
the right to be heard, to learn, to stand up for what he believed in, and for
his family.
He is survived by his wife, Nirupa, his son Neel, his
daughter Monali, his grandson Drona, and his siblings: his sisters Ilaben,
Chandrika, Bina, and his brother Ashok. He is preceded by his parents,
Chandubhai and Shantaben, and his eldest sister Niruben who was a tremendous
influence in his life.
All who knew him are welcome to attend. The family will
receive friends from 2 - 4 pm EST on Friday, August 23, 2019, at Dobbs Funeral
Home in Orlando, FL.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the National Kidney
Foundation memorial page. Bhupendra's deteriorating health and passing was
in large part due to his kidney disease, and we'd like to honor his legacy by
supporting continuing advocacy, education, and research to treat this disease.
He fought hard for everything he was passionate about and he'd want us to fight
for other families, too.
