Sarah Ellen Fragale
Known affectionately as "Susie" by her friends, "Suffy" by her family, and "Nunny Susie" by her grandchildren, she is best known in Clarksburg for her 26 years of service as crossing guard at St. Mary's Elementary and Notre Dame High Schools and as a meter maid for the City of Clarksburg. She moved to Orlando, FL, in December 1993, and following the death of her husband in 1994, began work as a paraprofessional working with exceptional education students at Edgewater High School for the next 8 years when she finally retired, three months short of her 80th birthday due to health problems. Known as "Grandma" to all her students and fellow staff, she touched many lives with genuine affection and belief in the abilities of her students. Quick with a smile, a hug, a word of encouragement and/or loving correction, she was always available to anyone who needed her to listen, to advise, to assist in any way she could. A woman of deep yet quiet faith, she was love in action.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 22, 2010, at 7:30 p.m. at Dobbs Funeral Home, 430 N. Kirkman Road, Orlando, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to http://www.rockpink.com/, a breast cancer awareness charity and/or Hospice of the Comforter, 480 W. Central Parkway, Altamonte Springs, FL, 32714
