Dorine Estelle Garrison

Dorine Estelle Garrison moved from life on earth to eternal life in heaven on January 23, 2024 at age 89.

Dorine was the firstborn child of Charles and Dorothy (Gray) Marcott on July 28,1934 in Rochester, New York where she grew up. In high school she was a cheerleader who loved to dance (especially the jitterbug) and met Russell (who did not love to dance) who would later become her husband. They had two daughters - Lynn and Susan. Dorine loved being a mom! She was active in everything her girls did from scouting to music lessons, swim meets and tennis matches - she was there. She was an incredible Mom in large part because she had one (a grace of God that she continued to thank Him for) ... and there are now 2 more generations of the same with daughter Susan and granddaughter Kara. What a legacy!

Dorine enjoyed homemaking, cooking, sewing, refinishing antiques, the feel and smell of the dirt as she cultivated her garden...and salt (too much). Summer family vacations were spent camping (2 adults, 2 girls, 2 dogs in a 12'x12' tent) and sailing in the Finger Lakes around upstate New York. Dorine and Russell loved to do things together. In the winter woods they fed birds from their hands while cross-country skiing. In summers they would be found together on the golf course, riding bikes or working in the yard. A big sports fan, there was no team Dorine cheered louder for than the Cartersville Purple Hurricanes high school football team. When her grandson began coaching there, she'd be the first to text him on game days already in one of her 'Canes T-shirts. During the past 7 years she had great joy with every photo/video she got of her great-grandchildren. She was so grateful to be in her home with Lynn for her last years.

Dorine was loving, fun, thoughtful, welcoming and supportive. An avid reader and deep-thinker, her wise and gentle counsel is already missed by her girls. Like the flowers she loved, her journey as a Christian was marked by watering, growth, sweet fragrance and beauty. She looked forward to learning truth from her pastor son-in-law online every Sunday. Her gratefulness to, joy in, love for and communion with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, was simply beautiful. To God be the glory for His gift of Dorine Estelle Garrison.

In addition to Dorine's parents, four siblings, and her husband Russell, she was also preceded in death by her much-loved and missed grandson Jonathan Hartman.

Dorine is survived by her daughters Lynn Garrison and Susan Hartman (Steve); grandchildren Kara Lewer (Josh) and Quinn Hartman; and great-grandchildren Estelle "Ellie", Russell, Amos and Vivian Lewer.

A private ceremony for the family only will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024 at Florida National Cemetery. The family graciously requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in Dorine's memory be made to Kiokee Baptist Church in Appling, Georgia or the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation.
