Don Sherman Haine, age 89, of Kissimmee, Florida, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2020 just three months after the death of his wife, Glenys. Don was born on April 12, 1930 in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania to Harry Edison and Amanda Jane Cable Haine. Don was named after his grandfather, Finley Sherman Cable. He grew up in Harmony, Pennsylvania and attended the Bloomfield Elementary one-room school. Later, the family moved into Ellwood City where Don attended Lincoln High School. He left high school early to help with his father’s business, the Haine Oil Company. Don was the delivery man and the family lived in an apartment above the business on 8th Street in Ellwood City, PA.
Don met and fell in love with Glenys Hughes and they married on August 5, 1949. They had two children, Bonnie Lynn and Robert Sherman. They both attended Riverside High School and later both graduated from Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania.
Don was an active member of Calvin Presbyterian Church. They built a home in Fombell, Pennsylvania and enjoyed that home for many years They later decided to sell their home and move to sunny Florida where Donald was employed at a Water Treatment Plant. One day they received a phone call offering Don a better place of employment in Danville, Kentucky. They made the big decision to move there where Don was employed by the Matthews Conveyor Company and his wife, Glenys, was employed by Centre College in the Science Lab.
They eventually moved back to Orlando, Florida to retire. And much to their surprise, they both obtained work at Walt Disney World MGM Studios (now Hollywood Studios) and enjoyed those years immensely. Don for 10 years and wife, Glenys for 15 years. Don said “I really enjoyed working for the mouse”.) Glenys and Don celebrated their 70th wedding Anniversary in August of 2019 surrounded by many family and friends.
Don was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Gunnett, who resided in Strongsville, Ohio, and John Haine from Ellwood City, Pennsylvania. Don is survived by his sister, Marian Haine, who resides in Lockwood, Florida.
Don is survived by a daughter, Bonnie Lynn Dobi and her husband David and their three children, Joshua and spouse, Kerri; John and spouse, Becky, Jillian and spouse Grant Sutphin and Also surviving is a son, Robert Sherman Haine and wife, Barbara and their four children, Robbie (deceased in 2004) and wife Bekah with spouse, Marc DeProspero, Nathan and spouse, Beckie, Donald and spouse, Sara; Jeremy and spouse, Diana, and several great grandchildren.
The Memorial Service for Don will be at his place of worship, First Baptist Church of Orlando/Marie Williams Chapel on Saturday February 8 at 1:00 pm.
