Edward James Muscanell

Edward James Muscanell, Jr., aka Eddie, 31, passed away peacefully in the company of family and friends on Saturday, October 15, 2016. He is survived by his mother and father, Maureen and Edward Muscanell, Sr., his sister, Nicole Muscanell (Bryan Murch), and his brother, Ryan Muscanell. Eddie was a beloved son and brother, a hard worker, and all-around genuinely loveable guy. Growing up, Eddie was a shy, but loveable and very respectful boy. He enjoyed bowling on Saturdays and playing little league baseball each week at the Dr. Phillips YMCA. He also loved to go on camping trips all over Florida with his family, and riding bikes and fishing in the neighborhood he grew up in. Eddie also spent a lot of time sitting at the family dinner table, refusing to drink his milk and eat his vegetables, especially peas. Even though Eddie did not completely outgrow his dislike for vegetables, he grew into a man who was as just as loveable as he was when he was a kid. As a young man, Eddie earned his license as a journeyman and worked as a union electrician. He was a hard worker and was well-respected by his fellow electricians. Besides being a devoted friend, son, and brother, Eddie eventually became a connoisseur of some of life’s finest things including: The Dallas Cowboys, fishing, boats, and chicken wings. His family, friends, colleagues, and his beloved dog, Bailey will miss him tremendously. But, we will all take comfort in the fact that he has gone on to a more peaceful life, where he can eat as many wings as he wants and watch the Cowboys (sometimes) win.

Funeral services for Eddie will be held on Friday, October 21, 2016. A viewing will be held from 11:30 to 1:00 PM, followed by a short service at Dobbs Funeral Home. Immediately following the service, there will be an escorted procession to Winter Garden Cemetery.

Ruta Malidoma Some

In loving memory of Ruta Malidoma Somé who was born to her father Goitom Mielik and mother Ghidey Araya Emnetu on November 12, 1977 in the city of Maytemenay, Asmara, Eritrea, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2016 in Orlando. Ruta was raised alongside siblings; Efram Goitom, Felmon Goitom, Anna Goitom and Robel Goitom.

Ruta was a loving and proud mother and generous friend. Ruta’s three children, one son and two daughters, are Meron Teame, age 21, Paula Somé, age 15, and Lula Somé, age 10. She walked beside her husband Malidoma Patrice Somé as the backbone of their marriage and surrounding village.

Ruta cared and she cared deeply. She loved and she loved deeply. She was a mother and protector and embraced all as village. Ruta exemplified dedication, beauty, radiance and an ancient feminine energy that only she could bring to her husband, family and to all.

In the loving words of her children….

Meron
“My best friend, my mother, my father, my back bone, my supporter, my healer, my chef, my comfort zone, and now my Guardian Angel…. My mom is all these things to me! A task that had to be carried on by so may people but she was able to be all these things for me on her own…. That’s the definition of a “super woman” she is and always will be my HERO.”

Paula words
My mom wasn’t someone you could describe with a couple of words. Sure, she was beautiful, kind and strong. But that’s not enough. My mom was like a day when the sun is shining as bright as ever but the rain is still falling. She was one who reminded you day after day that life is fair because it’s unfair to everyone. She was the only person I knew who was the perfect bible verse. “Love is patient, Love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. My mom was the physical form of love and always will be. She was the ray of light in everyone’s darkness. My mother sacrificed everything she had to put her family first but never herself. My mom is looking down at all of us from heaven smiling. She is finally getting the life that she deserves that earth couldn’t even offer her.

Lula words to mom:
"I love my mom more than anything. I will always love her more than anything and anyone. I know she wouldn’t want me to be upset about her passing though. She’d want us to be happy that she’s at peace and she can always watch us even when she’s not with us physically."
