Bobby Joe Tolbert, age 56, of Orlando, FL, was called home to be with the
Lord, Friday, June 5th, 2015 at Florida Hospital Orlando. He was born in
York, Alabama, on December 22, 1958 into the union of Bettie and
John Tolbert. Bobby was a Staff Sergeant and retired from the
United States Army. After graduating from Sumter County High School in 1977, Bobby Tolbert
enlisted into The United States Army at the age of 18 on July 19, 1977. Bobby
was united in marriage to Rosetta Rowe on 05/28/1982. He continued to serve in
The United States Army where he received Army Commendation Medal, Army
Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Non-commissioned Officer
Professional Development Ribbon -2, Overseas Service Ribbon -4, Valorous Unit
Award, Southwest Asia Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, Kuwait
Liberation Medal, Sharpshooter Badge Hand Grenade/Marksman Badge M-16 Rifle,
Army Retired Lapel Button to name a few. Bobby Tolbert also featured on the
cover of Time Magazine (February 25, 1991 edition) Title Beginning of the End.
After serving 20 years in The United States Army, Bobby and his family
moved to Orlando, Florida where he retired and started driving semi-trucks. Orlando, soon became his home where he met several friends, which they
partook in several of his favorite activities: fishing, bowling, and playing
dominoes. > He was a great husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was
a man of his word, he meant what he said and did not take 'no' for an answer.
Bobby was such an inspiration and had a great impact on the lives of
many.
Bobby is preceded in death by his mother Bettie, and his father John
Tolbert and leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Rosetta (Rowe) Tolbert
of Orlando; two daughters, Mekeba Tolbert of Ocoee, Olashiko Tolbert (Dominic
Jones) of Apopka; two sons Xavier Tolbert, Olajuwon Tolbert both of
Orlando; two sisters Jenny Tyson of Syracuse, Rebecca Brown (Glenn) of
Syracuse; two brothers Charles Tolbert (Marie) of Syracuse; Johnny
Tolbert of Auburn, New York; 8 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews,
and cousins who loved him dearly.
The family will be receiving friends at Dobbs Funeral Home on Thursday,
June 18, 2015 from 6:00 until 9:00 pm. The funeral service will be held
at 10:00 am on Friday, June 19, 2015 followed by interment at 2:00 pm at Florida National
Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida with military honors.
