Cecil Rampersaud Naraine

Cecil Rampersaud Naraine, age 95, of Orlando, passed away Sunday, April 19th, 2020 at Health Central Hospital in Ocoee. Mr. Cecil Rampersaud Naraine, started his life during an extreme humble era on December 1, 1924 in British Guiana. He grew up during the time of World War 2 and the worldwide great depression. He dropped out of secondary school so that he could go to work in the sugarcane fields in order to support his family. Later on, he became a police officer under the British rule and progressed through the rank to detective and presidential bodyguard. In 1969, he retired from the police force and migrated to the United States of America.

        

He was a pioneer in the true sense. He left Guyana in October 1969 to seek a better life for his family in America. He literally came to this country with only his suitcase and today, he fulfilled his dream and really made a name for himself. He selflessly sacrificed and paved the way for others to follow. Now today, many can look back and attribute their existence and success to him.

As he aged gracefully, he wanted a better quality of life for himself so he moved to Florida in 2003. He celebrated his 95^th birthday on 1 December 2019, surrounded by his family and loved ones. Today, he succumbed to his illness and died in the place where he always wanted to be.  

He was one of eight siblings and is survived by an older brother, Mr. Harry Persaud, younger sister, Mrs. Pauline Ramrattan and spouse Hilda Singh. He was married to the late Mrs. Dhanie Lilkumar Naraine and Patricia L. Naraine. His children are Shamdai T. Doobay, Kenneth J. Naraine, Roy K. Naraine, Maurice A. Naraine, Ruth I. Rupnarain, Sandra L. Kopec, Felix S. Naraine, Elizabeth Naraine, Patricia Budhan, David T. Singh, Sandra Sunchit, Carol Latchman and Terry Singh. He is a grandfather and great grandfather.

An 11:00 am funeral service will be held on Friday, April 24, 2020 at Dobbs Funeral Home, followed by cremation with Pastor Thomas Hensley officiating.
