William "Rob" Hurd

William “Rob” Hurd, 70, passed away peacefully in his home on February 19, surrounded by his family.

Rob was born in Orlando, FL and built friendships that lasted a lifetime. In his teen years, Rob found the two most important things that would shape his life forever…his Jesus & his June. He lovingly walked with them both his whole life.

Rob served as an Orange County fire fighter for 20 years and owned and operated a business he was proud of for 23 years. Later in life, he became a proud team member at Caliber1 Construction for 10 years. But Rob’s life was never defined by his occupation. He lived a life devoted to Jesus & his family. Rob was a great friend, an amazing father and a firm foundation for all who knew him. When asked about his bucket list, Rob smiled, held back tears, and pointed at his 5 grandkids. Being “grandaddy” was his best accomplishment and his greatest joy.

He is survived and will forever be cherished by his wife of 49 years, June, son Robby, daughter Heather, son in law Ian, and his 5 grandkids Laney, Branson, Georgia, Hayes & Pierce.

We will celebrate his life on March 18 in Henry Chapel at First Baptist Church Orlando at 2pm. A reception to gather with the family and enjoy stories of his life will follow in Faith Hall from 3:30-5:30pm.

In leu of flowers, please consider donating to St Jude’s children’s hospital. Rob fought cancer with great strength, but it was not easy. He often said “children should never have to go through this.”

While we will miss him forever, we are so grateful that he is healed & in his forever home with his Savior

Rob is certainly going to be missed. I have known him since 1971 and was amazed at his love for the Lord and June. I know he is celebrating and worshiping in a cancer free heaven.

As Godly a man I have ever met and truly showed Jesus through him at every moment. I will always be a better man for knowing Rob even though he did say to me sometimes, "I don't believe I would have said that or done that". Thanks for being a friend and see you soon.

Rob was a strong Christian man and very proud of Jesus his Lord and Savior. Rob was also a rock solid friend and family man. I’ve known Rob and June for over 40 years and I only have positive memories of both Rob and June over all of that time. I’m very grateful that they both have been my friends. Rob will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
