Born
in Jamaica, St. Ann West Indies to Eustace and Elizabeth Douglas. Myrtle migrated to England in 1960 where she
lived in Sheffield, St. Albans and Tooting.
Myrtle was married to Weston Shirley and they had 2 children Jean &
Ted who were born in England. After
Weston's death she married Albert Wallace.
She moved to New York in 1967 and lived in Mt. Vernon and Newburgh. She worked in Health Care until she
retired.
Myrtle was a people person and
was the matriarch in the family. She
made sure everyone not only her immediate family was taken care of. She was kind, compassionate, loving and courageous.
She would take the time to listen if you
had a problem or not. Her favorite word
of encouragement would be "Don't Worry, Pray, God will help
you." Her door was always open to
others, and she enjoyed making big
family dinners, and always cooked for Thanksgiving and Christmas for the
family.
Myrtle is survived by her
husband Albert Wallace; son Ted (Nancy) Shirley and daughter Jean Shirley; 3
brothers, Milton, Esley, Roman; 3 sisters, Pearl, Daphney, Carmen; Aunt Inez
Nelson; 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

I would like to express my deepest sympathy for the passing of your loved one. When the enemy death strikes(I Corinthian 15:26) the grief can be devastating to cope with even though you may believe in the resurrection hope, when Jesus promise to raise up those who have fallen asleep in death; restoring them back to life, on the renewed Paradise earth. -John 5:28,29; Luke 23:43. As you await the fulfillment of that hope Jehovah offers, you can be among those described in the Bible as “obtaining joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.”-Isaiah 35:10. Until your pain and sorrow flees from you, and you are reunited with your loved one; I pray Jehovah God give you peace in your heart and comfort, during this time of sorrow.-Matthew 5:4.
My heart goes out to the family and loved ones of Myrtle. She will be missed greatly. May God grant you peace and strength at this time. Acts 24:15 says that "there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous." We look forward to that time. You have my deepest sympathies.
