Shirley Delores Edwards

Shirley Delores Edwards was born in Brewton, Alabama on December 19, 1943 and died on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 in Orlando, Florida. She was the second of seven children born to the late Prince Albert Edwards and the late Evangelist Rosie Beth Edwards.

She attended Jones High School in Orlando, Florida. Professionally, she worked in various occupations as a mixologist, a geriatrics nurse’s assistant, an international model, and a professional secretary for many years.

Shirl or Shelly who her dad and close friends sometimes called her, often was the life of a social gathering.  She had a passion for dancing, listening to oldies music, and movies.  She often spoke of her favorite sport, wrestling (The Rock, The Undertaker, and Stone Cold Steve Austin were some of her favorites).  She had a God given talent for fashion, interior decorating, cooking, being a make-up artist, but most of all, being a grandmother.   She was a phenomenal hair stylist and taught many women how to use make-up, and wear and take care of a wig.

Shirley loved the word of God as she read and studied her bible daily.  Her beautiful smile, warm heart, and gentle touch often was illustrated in her giving as she helped people as much as she could.

Shirley leaves to cherish her memory, two children: Kerwin V. Edwards and Ruth Edwards Scandrett (Stanley); six grandchildren: Ronald Paramore, Angelette Washington, Rodrick Paramore, Brandon Paramore, El’Keturah Scandrett, and Stanley Elijah Scandrett; three great grandchildren: Gregory, Alvin, and Aden; five sisters: Carrie J. Heard, Mary E. Sanders, Lillie R. Farmer, Glenda L. Baker, and Brenda M. Edwards; one brother, Albert L. Edwards (deceased) and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, honorary donations may be made in Shirley’s' name to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
