Joan
A. Collette, 88, of Ocoee, FL, formerly of Watertown, NY passed away on January
9, 2024 under the care of her family and Hospice of Orlando, FL.
Dorine Estelle Garrison moved from life on earth to eternal life in heaven on January 23, 2024 at age 89.
Dorine was the firstborn child of Charles and Dorothy (Gray) Marcott on July 28,1934 in Rochester, New York where she grew up. In high school she was a cheerleader who loved to dance (especially the jitterbug) and met Russell (who did not love to dance) who would later become her husband. They had two daughters - Lynn and Susan. Dorine loved being a mom! She was active in everything her girls did from scouting to music lessons, swim meets and tennis matches - she was there. She was an incredible Mom in large part because she had one (a grace of God that she continued to thank Him for) ... and there are now 2 more generations of the same with daughter Susan and granddaughter Kara. What a legacy!
Dorine enjoyed homemaking, cooking, sewing, refinishing antiques, the feel and smell of the dirt as she cultivated her garden...and salt (too much). Summer family vacations were spent camping (2 adults, 2 girls, 2 dogs in a 12'x12' tent) and sailing in the Finger Lakes around upstate New York. Dorine and Russell loved to do things together. In the winter woods they fed birds from their hands while cross-country skiing. In summers they would be found together on the golf course, riding bikes or working in the yard. A big sports fan, there was no team Dorine cheered louder for than the Cartersville Purple Hurricanes high school football team. When her grandson began coaching there, she'd be the first to text him on game days already in one of her 'Canes T-shirts. During the past 7 years she had great joy with every photo/video she got of her great-grandchildren. She was so grateful to be in her home with Lynn for her last years.
Dorine was loving, fun, thoughtful, welcoming and supportive. An avid reader and deep-thinker, her wise and gentle counsel is already missed by her girls. Like the flowers she loved, her journey as a Christian was marked by watering, growth, sweet fragrance and beauty. She looked forward to learning truth from her pastor son-in-law online every Sunday. Her gratefulness to, joy in, love for and communion with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, was simply beautiful. To God be the glory for His gift of Dorine Estelle Garrison.
In addition to Dorine's parents, four siblings, and her husband Russell, she was also preceded in death by her much-loved and missed grandson Jonathan Hartman.
A private ceremony for the family only will be held on Friday,
February 2, 2024 at Florida National Cemetery. The family graciously requests
that in lieu of flowers, donations in Dorine's memory be made to Kiokee Baptist
Church in Appling, Georgia or the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation.
Leann will be remembered for her benevolence, her generosity knows no bounds. She loved her family fiercely and was considered to be a protector and mother figure to many. She was also a devoted wife to her husband of over 30 years, Jerome Brezinsky (now passed). She loved fishing, gardening, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her brother Robert Warfield and his sons Robert and William Warfield, her nephew Joshua Boesch, and her step-children Michael, Stephanie, and Melissa Brezinsky. Please join us for a celebration of life service that will be held on February 3rd, 2024, at Dobbs Funeral Home, 430 N Kirkman Rd. Thompson, Joyce E. 82, was called home by her Lord and Savior on October 31, 2023 at 11:49 PM. She died peacefully in her home located in Orlando, Florida. She was born to Otto and Maggie Aue in Muskegon, Michigan on March 20, 1941. She was the youngest of four sisters who grew up in a little white house with a farm in the back that her father loved working in.
Joyce was involved in the 4H Club and worked for Surfine Foods until moving to Florida back in the 70's with her family. Joyce worked for many years as a Loan Officer and then went on to become a Travel Agent, where she was able to travel all over the world. She was the type of mother that was always helping with homework, running to the store at the last minute for school supplies, involved in Brownies, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Boy Scouts, and always made fabulous meals every night. She brought her children up in the church and to know the Lord. Church was an important part of her life and if she couldn't make a service, she would have Bible study at home with her family. Simply put - Joyce sacrificed everything for her family and went beyond the call for her family and friends. There is nothing she wouldn't do to help others. When she did have spare time, she liked doing ceramics, sewing, gathering shells at the beach and going to the library. One of the things her family will miss the most is her Sunday family dinner and smelling the roast cooking in the oven, to be followed by everyone gathering around the dinner table eating, talking, laughing, and enjoying each other's company.
Joyce was predeceased by her parents, Otto and Maggie Aue, Lawrence Thompson (husband), and sisters, Mabel Cain, Edith Hull, and Doris Taylor. She is survived by Victor Bird (former husband), James Ogaz (son-in-law), Kristi Ogaz (daughter), Jeff Bird (son), Richard Hicks (grandson), Robert Ogaz (grandson), Elaine Bird (granddaughter), and Angela Bird (granddaughter).
A memorial service will be held at Crown of Glory Lutheran
Church on November 12, 2023 at 2:00 PM. The address is 2101 S. Apopka
Vineland Road, Orlando, Florida 32835.
