Pauline Cain Norby, 94, passed away on May 28, 2012 at Ponce Adult Family Care in Orlando, FL where she resided for the past month. The previous 6 years she resided at the Madison House Assisted Living Facility. She was born August 26, 1917 in Ozark, Alabama, where she graduated from high school at age 16. She attended Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in music. She attended The Julliard School of Music in New York City to study piano and became an accomplished concert pianist as well as a piano teacher. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ozark. She met her husband, Thomas at Fort Rucker, in Ozark, when he was stationed there with the U.S. Army. She moved from Alabama with her husband to Louisiana, New Mexico and settling down with "Tar Heel" roots in Swannanoa, North Carolina as he pursued his personnel career with the U.S. Government. she was a devoted mother and was very proud of her 2 sons who attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Julian Norby in November 1988, and her oldest son, Thomas Julian Norby, Jr of Charlotte, NC in March 2010. Survivors included her youngest son, Robert Brent Norby of Orlando, FL, daughter in law, Julie Bullard Norby, her true advocate, and her beloved 3 grandchildren; Alexandra Leigh Norby, Julian Lucas "Luke" Norby, and Elizabeth "Lizzy" Victoria Norby, all of Orlando, FL. A memorial service, "Ice Cream Social", hats required, will be planned at a later date.
