Leopoldo Segundo Fernandez

Leopoldo "Mike" Fernandez
June 10, 1935 - July 21, 2012

Was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico to Leopoldo Fernandez and Rosaura Andreu. Raised by his beloved maternal grandmother, Cecilia Cavero. He was a child actor and an outstanding Volleyball player. He represented Puerto Rico in Pan-American Games and Olympic Games.  Always expressed that those were the happiest days of his life. Volleyball was truly his passion and in his eyes his biggest success.  He was a Real Estate Broker in Puerto Rico for many years, worked with The Charles H. Shaw Co. for about 10 years leasing & managing high rise office buildings and later becoming a Vice President of that company in San Juan, P.R. Those years were happy and fruitful for him and his family.

Through out his life he traveled to many countries for work and pleasure made many friends and business acquaintances. He was a people person. He loved to be able to help others and in his later years liked to pray for the healing of the sick. In 1990 he started his walk with the Lord Jesus Christ, he knew how much Jesus loved and cared for him, and had no fear.

Moved to Orlando, FL in 1992 with his wife Sandra and his two boys, Miguel Jose and Cesar Alejandro. Orlando was their home for 20 years. He worked for Westgate Resorts Corporate offices in Orlando, FL.
Compass Investments in Winter Park, FL and Tempus Resorts, in Kissimmee, for 7 years, as Verification Officer, and received many awards.  Retired in 2010, because of failing health. Never lost his sense of humor and hope for the future.

Since December 2011 he was living at Ocoee Health Care & Rehab Center, following surgery and declining physical & mental health. He made many friends there and we want to thank his roommate Raul Gutierrez and family for their kindness and love towards Leopoldo, He was very grateful for that.  His family would like to extend a special and heartfelt thanks to Ocoee Health Care & Rehab Center and Hospice of the Comforter, to their wonderful Administrative staff, Doctor’s, Nurses and Nurses Aides for their wonderful care, love and support of our husband and father. You are truly appreciated.

He is survived by his wife of 36 yrs. Sandra O. Fernandez, his daughters Lina Marie Fernandez and Patricia Ann Fernandez, his sons Miguel Jose Fernandez and Cesar Alejandro Fernandez. His brother Carlos Cervantes & Sandy Cervantes. His nephew Hector L. Fernandez & Firy Fernandez,  As well as many other family members through out the United States and abroad.

His brilliant mind, his wonderful sense of humor and loving kindness will surely be missed by all who knew and loved him. He is now at Peace, where there is no more pain or sorrow. His family wants to thank everyone for all their prayers, love and support. Families are Forever, until we meet again!
