Richard L. Walker

Passed away August 5, 2023. He was a native Californian who graduated from Santa Clara University studying political science, but his true passion was ROTC.  During his Army career of 22 years one of his favorite assignments was assistant professor of Military science at the University of South Florida.  There he met the love of his life Cindy, and they were married for over 40 years.

Their first date was a Tampa Bay Buccaneer’s game, and the second date was dinner.  They continued to watch games together on TV - Rays, Braves, Bucs and all college football.  One of their favorite activities was dinner dates so they could focus on each other without distraction.  These activities continued to provide many happy memories throughout the years.

After retirement they enjoyed traveling together.  Rich was able to spend much of his free time golfing.  He loved all sports especially Golf and Football.  As a young man, he thought that he would be a radio sports announcer and could give you sports statics at the drop of a hat.

He was also involved in volunteer activities mostly with youth and young adults.  Rich was always a champion of the underdog. He was very generous with his time and his resources. To his family and friends, he was fiercely protective and loved them very much.

He will receive military honors at a private burial.
