Thomas John Mayou


Thomas John Mayou age 73 of Orlando, passed away Thursday, January 6th, 2011. Thomas was born in Escanaba, Michigan the son of the late Antoinette (Stim) and Thomas Mayou. He served in the United States Marines and was employed as a service engineer for IBM. He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church and later attended Blessed Trinity Catholic Church.

Thomas leaves to cherish his memory son, Mike (Karen) Mayou of Orlando; sister Lynette VanDenHeuvel of DePere, Wisconsin; grandchildren Nicole Lynn and Lauren Ashley Mayou both of Orlando. The family will be receiving friends at Dobbs Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at 10:00 am, followed by Interment at Dr. Phillips Cemetery.

So sorry to hear of "Mayou's" passing. We knew of him only as "Mayou" when we served together in MACS-1 as Radar and radio technicians while stationed in Japan in and around 1958. I am pretty sure I have finally found the right Mayou listed on the internet but am so sorry I am too late to contact him in person. If anyone is interested we have some photos of him from 1958.

He was a great friend and an amazing person. people like him are hard to come by. it's hard to believe that it will be four years now that he has been gone. still miss him.....
