Annette McIver James Barnard

Annette McIver James Barnard (Anne), age 65 of Orlando, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2011. Anne was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, to Annette McIver and Theodore Sage James, Jr. Anne was a graduate of Plant High School (Tampa, FL) - class of 1964 and attended Wesleyan College (Macon, GA) for three years.

Anne worked her entire life in the field of insurance as a Customer Service Representative and an agent. The majority of her time was spent at Cooper, Simms, Nelson & Mosley Insurance, sun State Insurance, and finally, Hugh Cotton Insurance, where she worked for nearly 25 years. She enjoyed her work, as it allowed her to interact with many people who she considered not just customers, but friends. Many of them considered her to be a treasure as well, due to her attention to detail and her concern that all of their needs be met to the best of her ability.

Anne spent her time reading mysteries voraciously and loving her cats. She loved the beauty of the NC mountains, especially the waterfalls. She also had quite the green thumb - especially with African violets. The wind chimes she collected will lead to fond memories stirring with every breeze that passes by.

Anne is survived by her daughter, Barbara Annette Barnard, also of Orlando, and several cousins. She also leaves behind two very spoiled cats. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Theodore S. James, III.

Anne will be interred in the family plot in Charlotte, NC. As would be her desire, only a small graveside service will be held at interment. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to Hospice of the comforter, which provided such wonderful comfort and care for her in her final days.

Gone yet not forgotten,

Although we are apart,

Your spirit lives within me,

Forever in my heart.

Barbara, I'm sorry to hear about your mom. Ms. Anne sounded like a beautiful person...peaceful and friendly. As you say, she will live on in the memories of all whom she touched. But, especially in God's memory. The Bible says that one day soon he will eliminate death forever & resurrect the dead. (Rev. 12:4) So, it's my hope that you see and hold your mom again. Our hearts go out to you and your family at this sad time.

Thinking of you Barbara...You've been incredibly brave through this difficult...There is no more pain for your sweet mom and as time passes, your pain will lessen, too. Gone, but never forgotten. Love, Kathy (Jaudon)

Barbara what a sweet tribute to your mom. She will be missed but definitely not forgotten. One of my favorite memories of your mom is the day after Thanksgiving shopping running into the two of you at different stores, you two were always having the best time together. That happened several years in a row. Blessings and prayers for you...Love, Paula

This might have been the hardest thing you ever wrote, Barbara; but, it is a beautifully written and loving tribute to your mother and to your mutual love. God bless and take care of you both.

As time passes may your hurt lessen and only fond memories remain. Your mom lives on in eternity, in your heart and memories, and in the memories of all of us who knew her, even a little. The sparkle in her eyes, the beauty of her smile, and the wit and sarcasm of her bright mind left lasting memories with us. You were her pride and joy, and her friend. May the peace that only God can give be yours.
