Atef Awad

Atef Awad, age 64 of Orlando passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2018.  He was born in Latakia, Syria the son of Abraham and Sarah (Basna) Awad and was employed as a financial relationship manager.

Atef leaves to cherish his memory wife May Awad of Orlando; son Hossam Awad of London, daughters Haya Awad of Orlando, Sarah Awad of Iraq; brothers Suhail, Samir and Afig Awadall of Syria; sisters Muna Awad of Syria, Wadad Basous of Lebanon and 2 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, December 14, 2018 at Kissimmee First Church of the Nazarene, 1550 Mill Stough Road, Kissimmee FL, followed by interment at Winter Garden Cemetery.

Irene Wolthoff

Irene went to be with her heavenly Father on November 6, 2018.  She was born in Fall River, MA but grew up in Rhode Island.  She learned to play the piano in her teens and became an accomplished pianist. She played for her high school functions, at hotels, and other venues. She continued to play all her life for enjoyment, even playing a few days before her passing. She loved to act and was in numerous plays. Irene enjoyed singing, sang in her church choir, and eventually sang with the Sweet Adelines in St. Petersburg, FL. She was part of a quartet and these ladies traveled the southeast competing and having a ball.   Irene enjoyed sewing and made a lot of her clothes, her daughter’s outfits, doll clothes, and many costumes for her singing group. She worked in a bank when she was first married to Harry Wolthoff, the love of her life, who predeceased her. They were happily married for over 58 years. She also worked as a secretary to several school principals at Lealman Junior High and St. Petersburg High School.  After Harry’s passing,   Irene volunteered at a Hospice Thrift Store which she looked forward to. She is predeceased by not only her loving husband Harry, but a sister, Alice Wolthoff, a nephew, as well as many wonderful brother and sister in laws.  She is survived by her daughter, Laurie Wolthoff Kelsey and her husband, Bob. She also leaves behind her granddaughter, Allison Kelsey, her children Madeline and Christopher; her grandson Brock Kelsey, his wife Niki, and their children Austin, Hailey, and Collin.  She has one remaining sister in law Ellie Wolthoff, and many loving nieces and nephews.  She was loved by so many besides her family and she will be missed terribly.  Irene was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.  A private family service will be held at Bay Pines National Cemetery in St. Petersburg, FL.

Philip Francis O'Brien

Philip Francis O'Brien,  age 23, of Orlando was tragically taken on Saturday, November 24th, 2018.  He was born in Bronx, NY, the son of Erica O'Brien and was employed as an assistant manager for a car wash company.

Philip leaves to cherish his memory, mother Erica O'Brien of Orlando; brother Jayce O'Brien of Orlando;  and  his heart and love Fedia Petit Frere of Winter Park.

Tomas Rosa

Tomas Rosa, age 83, of Orlando, passed away Monday, November 26th, at Health Central in Ocoee, FL.   He was born in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, the son of the late Altemia (Diaz)  and Miguel  Rosa and was employed as a plastic shops machinist.  

Tomas leaves to cherish his memory wife Carmen (Garcia) Rosa of Orlando; daughter Gloria Ortiz of Fitchburg, MA; two sons Thomas Rosa, Jr., and  David Izzarry,  both of Orlando; sister Ida Rosa, brother Julian Rosa, both of Lowell, MA;  6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.  

The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, December 1st, 2018 at Dobbs Funeral Home in Orlando, FL .  The funeral service will follow visitation at 12:00 PM  with Pastor Confessor Rodriguez officiating.  Interment will be at Winter Garden Cemetery, Winter Garden, FL. 

Charles R. King

Charles R. King, 79, of Ocoee, FL went home to be with the Lord on November 20, 2018.  Born in Johnson City, TN, he came to Florida in 1959.  He was a member of West Orlando Baptist Church.  He worked for AAA Building Services in Orlando for over 30 years.  He retired from First Baptist Church Windermere after 18 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents John R. and Frances King.  He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Barbara; Siblings, Douglas (Ramona) King-Arcadia, FL, Carolyn (Chester) Osgood- Ozark, AL, Richard (Dorothy) King - Madison, AL, David (Brenda) King-Enumelaw, WA, and Gary (Brittney) King -Greenville, TN; Sons, Rick (Ellen) King - Ocoee, and Charlie(Vicki) King - Tavares, FL; Grandchildren, Mark, Jake, and Rachel King.

A celebration of life will take place at West Orlando Baptist Church, Ocoee, on November 23, 2018 at 11:00 am, followed by a grave side service at Ocoee Cemetery.  Arrangements in care of Dobbs Funeral Home.

Mary Daisy Perez-Trott

Mary Daisy Perez-Trott, age 72, of Orlando, passed away Sunday, November 18th, 2018 at Dr. P. Phillips Hospital.   She was born in Miami, the daughter of the late Sixto Perez and was employed as a hospital administrator.  

Mary leaves to cherish her memory, husband Gerald  Trott of Orlando; and two sons Jerald (Katherine) Trott of Windermere and Timothy Trott of Orlando. 

The family will be receiving friends from 6:00 until 7:00 pm, followed by the funeral service at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, November 21st, 2018 at Dobbs Funeral Home in Orlando, with Pastor Thomas Hensley officiating.

Robert Ashley Appel

Robert passed away on Friday, November 9^th after a short, bravely fought battle with cancer.  Robert was born in Peters Township Pennsylvania and was raised by loving parents Patricia Elmer Appel and Ralph Lach Appel (deceased).  He was the younger of two boys.  He is survived by his Mother (Patricia Elmer Appel), wife Kathleen Harkins Appel, daughter Ashley Appel as well as 10 nieces Marilee, Sara, Jennifer, Brenda, Chrissy, Teresa, Ally, Emily, Tippin, Heather and 13 nephews Richard, Daniel, Billy, Michael, David, Bill, JP, Evan, Kenny, Corbin, Paul, Matt, and Shane.  Robert is predeceased by his brother Roy.

Robert graduated from Peters Township High School Class of 1972.  He went on to graduate from a trade school before working for Amtrak.  Robert then worked in the automobile industry as a car salesman before his employment at the Florida Auto Auction of Orlando in Ocoee, FL, driving cars, coordinating and supervising vehicles and inventory, supervising his own department made up of 24 people, working with multiple car dealers and being an advisor to the Health and Safety Department for the personnel of that department. Robert was the owner/operator of Central Florida Transport.  He would help his clients get to and from medical appointments or physical therapy, and help them through pre and post operative procedures.  For a few years, Robert had a business painting people’s houses.  No matter the job Robert took great pride in his work and always did his job with integrity and care. 

Robert’s most rewarding job was as our family caretaker.  Robert always made sure that the house was clean and that the pantry and refrigerator were always full of food.  He would prepare home cooked meals every night for his family and always took the time to make sure that his family was happy and ensured that they had everything that they needed.  Robert retired from his professional life in 2007 to care for his mother when she broke her neck.  Robert loved being a husband, father and son.  It was the light of his life being able to take care of the ones he loved most.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2018 with visitation starting at 1:00 pm, followed by the service at 2:00 pm at Dobbs Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers Bob requests that you spend time with your children, take a walk on the beach with your loved ones and make a toast to enduring friendships lifelong and beyond.

Robert will be greatly missed by family and friends.  May he rest in peace.

Roy Croft Brand

Roy Croft Brand passed away on Tuesday, November 6th, 2018.  He was born in Lake Worth, Florida on December 13, 1936. He was the youngest of four children. He is survived by his two sisters Elizabeth Respess and Carolyn Smith as well as his son Roger Brand (Deirdre) and daughter Ashley VanDerMark (Skip) and seven grandchildren: Peter, Jack, Grace, and George Brand and Connor, Riley and Harper VanDerMark. He is preceded in death by his mother Odessa and older brother Joe.

Like many from his generation, Roy worked all his life and gave tirelessly of his time and resources to help others. His first job was delivering milk and then he had a paper delivery route. Even before he could drive, he parked cars for Harlan Blackburn (a member of the Cigar Mafia). While in high school he worked for George Stuart Office Supply, and at sixteen he became an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Boone High School in 1954 and elected to go into the Naval Reserve where he served honorably for eight years. He worked for Southern Bell as a lineman before attending Florida State University where he graduated with a degree in Accounting in 1962.

Roy was introduced to State Farm Insurance by Bill Gunter and started his own agency, which was his main occupation for 47 years. He was a pilot and one of the founders of the Orlando Aero Club at Herndon Airport. When he was 33, he dabbled in politics, by running for Orange County Commissioner. He was an active member and past President of the West Orlando Rotary Club where he was extremely involved. While in Rotary he built literally hundreds of wheelchair ramps for people in need. Rotary International honored him with the Paul Harris Fellow Award for his service. From the early 1980’s he maintained a contractor license helping many people build and renovate their homes as well as businesses. Roy’s passion was always in helping others so it should be no surprise that he was also a lifelong blood donor to the Central Florida Blood Bank, donating over 50 gallons. 

He seemed to be most fond of his service as a Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary State Trooper. Roy not only gave of his time and resources he also was a philanthropist and patron of the arts, donating countless dollars and hours to the Winter Park Playhouse, Orlando Opera, Orlando Ballet, Orlando Philharmonic and the Orlando Museum of Art.

Roy’s entire life demonstrated his love for people. He truly had a servant’s heart. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him.

A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church Orlando, 3000 South John Young Parkway, in The Henry Chapel, Saturday, November 10th at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Cannonball Kids’ cancer Foundation, 

(www.cannonballkidscancer.org), a charity near and dear to his heart.

Sandi Feliciano

 October 17 1948 to October 14 2018

She was preceded in death by Parents Marvin and Flossie Clemons Orlando, and  Cousin Letha Domingues Beckley WV.

Cecille Elizabeth Jones Hall

Cecille Elizabeth Jones Hall (affectionately called Betty), was the 2^nd of 4 children born to Harold and Clara Jones at Victoria Jubilee Hospital in Kingston, Jamaica on September 13^th, 1947. Cecille attended Whitfield Town All-Age School, North Street Seventh Day Adventist School and Tutorial College. As a child growing up Cecille had a passion and a love for nursing, and after graduating from Tutorial College in 1967 she received a Government Scholarship to East Surrey Hospital School of Nursing in London, England. Cecille was elated to stay the least. Prior to leaving for London, Cecille had a brief encounter with a dapper gentleman by the name of Dennis Hall, at the Registrar General Office (aka Record Office) in Spanish Town. She urgently needed to obtain a birth certificate to apply for her Passport to leave for London. Dennis was quite happy to expedite this request for this attractive young lady. It just so happens that the birth certificate was completed that same day around lunch time and Dennis invited her to lunch. She accepted, and after lunch went back home, while Dennis returned to work. Cecille obtained her Passport shortly thereafter and went to London. They stayed in contact over the next two years and became engaged by Proxy in 1968. In September of 1970, Cecille fulfilled her lifelong dream of becoming a Registered Nurse, and returned to Kingston, Jamaica. In December 1970, Dennis and Cecille got married. Cecille worked for a short time at the Nuthall Hospital in Kingston, then migrated to New York in late 1971. Dennis joined Cecille in August 1972. While in New York, she worked for Visiting Nurse Services and at South Nassau Community Hospital in Long Island where she was a Charge Nurse. As a Passionate Charge Nurse, she made it her way of life, and conducted several health seminars throughout New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Another lifelong passion of Cecille from an early age was her commitment to her church and putting the Lord first. There wasn’t a scripture or gospel song she didn’t know. She took her love for the Lord seriously, and only missed church when she had to work. In 1973 Dennis and Cecille decided it was time to add to the family, and Cecille gave birth to her first daughter Lisa, and her second daughter Tenille followed in 1977. Dennis’s children from Jamaica, Sandra and Tony joined the family in 1978. She enjoyed being a mother and gave this new and expanded role her all, from sewing clothes, to cooking to shopping for her family, Cecille did it all with love and commitment, always putting God first and foremost in their lives. In 2002 the family relocated to Florida and Cecille worked for a couple of years, after which she went into retirement.

Cecille took being a grandmother to 3 beautiful girls as a gift from God, she instilled her class, grace and the love of the Lord in their lives.  After retiring Cecille joined her husband Dennis in Orange County Sheriff’s Office as a volunteer for the Citizens on Patrol Program. She enjoyed this new position of keeping her neighborhood of 254 homes safe with her husband (A program he started in Pine Hills), and after 10 years, Cecille had to retire from the Citizens on Patrol Program due to poor health. Cecille received numerous awards for her many devoted years of unselfish hospitality, commitment and service to her communities. Cecille lived the remainder of her life under doctor’s care and passed peacefully from this life on the evening of October 24^th 2018 at her residence. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and caregivers during the last days of her life.

Cecille is preceded in death by parents Harold and Clara, and sister Grace. She is survived by her loving husband Dennis, daughters, Lisa, Tenille, Step daughter Sandra, Step son Tony, son-in-law’s Prince, Garth, Matthew, granddaughters, Njani, Nyala, Nakari, sister – Yvonne, brother Easton, cousin Dorothy, and a whole host of family and friends.

David Anthony Hawn

David Anthony Hawn died suddenly on September 3, 2018.  He was born on January 15, 1985 in Ann Arbor, Michigan and moved to Florida with his family in 1997.  David was a graduate of Dr. Phillips High School and Florida State University.  He was the beloved son of Steven and Cynthia Hawn and brother of Daniel and Christine.  He is survived by his immediate family, his much-loved grandmother, Patti “Tutu” Hawn, as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins too numerous to count.  He will be missed and never forgotten by all who loved him.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, October 20, at 1:00 PM at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension, 4950 S. Apopka-Vineland Rd., Orlando.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, www.feedhopenow.org where David volunteered.

Naraine Diaram

Naraine Diaram, age 72, of Orlando, passed away Wednesday, October 10th, 2018 at Cornerstone Hospice at Orlando Health.   He was born in Georgetown, Guyana the son of the late Diaram and Deorattie and was employed as a security guard.

Naraine leaves to cherish his memory, wife Praimwattie Diaram of Orlando; three daughters, Sharda Millis of Orlando; Dhramdai Lall of Apopka; Vaidwattie Jagmohan of Orlando; two sons Rabindranauth Diaram of Ocoee,  Chatnarine Diaram of Ocoee;  sister Ramrattie Diaram of Queens, NY; two brothers Ramkumar Diaram of Long Island, NY, Krishna Diaram of Connecticut; and 11 grandchildren.

The family will be receiving friends from 6:00 until 9:00 pm on Monday, October 15th, 2018.  A Traditional Hindu service will be held from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 16th, 2018 at Dobbs Funeral Home in Orlando, FL  with Pandit Raj officiating.

Interment will follow the service at Metro Crematory in Ocoee, Florida.

Austin Michael Kelley

Austin Michael Kelley,  age 20, of Orlando, passed away Friday, September 28th, 2018.He was born in Orlando, FL  the son of Deanna (Kelley) and the late Charles Seth Hartford and was employed as a retail clerk.

Austin is predeceased by his sister Hailey Adams (2007) and leaves to cherish his memory, mother Deanna Kelley; three sisters, Brittany Adams, Emily Adams, Savannah  Mayfield; two brothers, Stephen Kelley; Cori New; and maternal grandmother Barbara Sneathen all of Orlando; 

The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 until 7:00 pm on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, followed by the funeral service at 7:00 pm at Dobbs Funeral Home.

Brenda Sue Conrad

Brenda Sue Conrad, age 70, of Orlando,  passed away Sunday, October 7, 2018.  She was born in Orlando, the daughter of the late Willie (Farmer)  and Leo  Conrad.  Brenda was employed for over 30 plus years as a surgical technician at Orlando Regional Medical Center. She also loved ballroom dancing.

Brenda leaves to cherish her memory, brother Ray Conrad, of Orlando; niece Beverly Brown of Orlando; nephews Robert Owens of Ocoee, Scott Owens of Texas; numerous great nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery on Monday, October 15, 2018 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Dan Entwistle officiating.

Stephen Francis Dinda

STEPHEN FRANCIS DINDA - AKA STEVIE, LOVEY, MR. D, PAPA STEVE

Steve was born in Farmingdale, New York on 9/4/1942 to Frank Dinda and Frances Stephens Dinda and is the older brother of James Dinda and Elizabeth Churchill.

He graduated with honors from Half Hollow Hills High School, where he was senior class president and captain of the wrestling team.

Steve attended and graduated from Niagara University, where he met his beloved wife Dorothy Ann Cannon. Together they had their first three children in 2 ½ years.

Post-graduation, he had many different careers. Steve was a stock broker for Edwards and Hanley and Dean Witter. He also owned many of his own businesses. His Pioneer General Store in Bethpage, New York, was one of the first convenience stores in the U.S. with gas pumps in front. Steve also owned and operated a chain of gas stations throughout Nassau County, New York.

In his Forest City, Wantagh years, he coached Little League, played softball, competed in the community bowling league and was an avid poker player.

In his mid-forties, Steve left New York and found his calling, selling timeshare for the Marriott Vacation Club in their Telesales department. He became their top producer, won salesman of the year, and was the first Telesales salesman in the history of the company to reach presidential status. He was looked upon as a mentor, trainer, role model, friend and a friendly ear to speak to. He was acclaimed for his ethics and possibly best remembered for his sarcastic wit. He retired when stricken with cancer in 2002. 

Steve is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy and is survived by his second wife, Jane Powers and 5 children Susan Fischer (Gregory), James (Kimberly), Joseph, Frank (Kimberly), and Dorothy Mooney (James). He is also survived by his 7 treasured grandchildren, Josh, Jake, Andre, Austyn, Lexi, Aston and Mia. 

Steve was a cancer survivor, a life-long Catholic and looked forward to eternal life in heaven.

Rafael Angel Hernandez

Rafael Angel Hernandez, age 73, of Orlando,  passed away Thursday, September 27th, 2018 at Cornerstone Hospice at Orlando Health.  He was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico,  the son of Eloisa (Muskus)  and Pacifico Hernandez and was employed as a hospital porter.  

Rafael leaves to cherish his memory wife Constancia  (Brown) Hernandez of Orlando; daughter Nidia Smith, of Orlando; three sons Jesus Manual Hernandez of Boston, MA, Rafael A. Hernandez, Jr., of San Juan, PR,  and Timothy Smith, of Panama. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; 7 grandchildren

The family will be receiving friends from 10:30 am until 12:00 pm, followed by the funeral service at 12:00 pm on Friday, October 5th, 2018 at Dobbs Funeral Home in Orlando.  Interment will be at Winter Garden Cemetery, 13636 Lake Butler Boulevard, Winter Garden FL.

Alan Barry Scott

Alan Barry Scott, age 49, of Orlando passed away Saturday, September 22nd, 2018 at his residence.   He was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, the son of Ava Scott and was employed as an auto mechanic.

Alan leaves to cherish his memory, mother Ava Scott of Orlando;  daughter Aliyah Scott of Groveland; and son Brandon Thompson also of Groveland. 

The family will be receiving friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, October 2nd, 2018 at Dobbs Funeral Home, followed by the funeral service at 7:00 PM with Rev. Bill Curl officiating.

Carlton Kumar

Carlton Kumar, age 57, of Orlando, FL, passed away Friday, September 21, 2018 at his residence.  He was born in Trinidad,  the son of Jassodra (Ganpat) and the late Harold Kumar and was employed as a chef.

Carlton leaves to cherish his memory, mother Jassodra Kumar of Richmond, TX; three sisters, Sintra DeJesus of Richmond, TX, Chandra Kumar of Queens, NY, Kaloutie Aughey of Clearwater, FL; and brother Kishore Kumar of Queens, NY.

The family will be receiving friends from 6:00 until 9:00 pm on Monday, September 24, 2018 at Dobbs Funeral Home. A Traditional Hindu Service will be held on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm at Dobbs Funeral Home, followed by cremation at Metro Crematory in Ocoee, FL.

Thomas Gordon Diffey

Thomas ”Tom” Gordon Diffey, age 87 of Orlando, went peacefully to be with our Lord on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Cornerstone Hospice.  He was born on August 8, 1931, in Midnight, Mississippi, the son of the late Thomas Patrick Diffey and Mrytle Musgrove Diffey.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Marshall Diffey, brother Glen Diffey and sister Marlene Hairston.

Tom leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Linda Diffey, children, John (Allison) Diffey, Richard (Sue) Diffey, Kathy (John) Kardules and Randy (Nancy) Rich, sisters, Valerie Wiggins, Gail Keith, brother, Pat Diffey, 13 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Tom served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War.  He was a former Auditor for Los Angeles County, California and Orange County, Florida.  He worked until the age of 78.   Tom loved the Lord, his family, friends, music, photography, pistol shooting, traveling, Nascar racing and fried the best chicken and catfish anywhere.  He was a Bible Study Teacher at First Baptist Church in Orlando and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  He was blessed to be loved by many and will be greatly missed.

A service to celebrate Tom’s life will be held on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Orlando, FL with Pastor Jeff Thompson officiating.

Gary Michael Kish

Gary Michael Kish, age 67 of Tampa, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 in Orlando.  He was born in St. Augustine, Florida the son of Johnny and Lillian (Vaughn) Kish and was employed in residential and commercial construction. 

Gary is survived by his daughter Amy Kish, also of Tampa and many other relatives and friends.  

Visitation was held on Saturday, August 11, 2018 from 1:00 until 2:00 pm, followed by the funeral service at Dobbs Funeral Home.
