Barry Anthony Fiandra

Barry Anthony Fiandra,  age 61 of  Windermere passed away Saturday, May 3rd, 2014 at his residence.  Barry was born in Philadelphia, PA the son of the late Helen (Wasko)  and Joseph  Fiandra.  Barry graduated from the Philadelphia  College of Textiles and Sciences in 1975 with a Bachelor's Degree in Life Science.  He then went to the University of Pennsylvania on a Fellowship in the Doctoral program in Organic Chemistry, however, soon discovered that was not his calling.  In 1982 he graduated from Temple University with his Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering - the rest is history.  He was employed as a Vice President of Transportation at AECOM for 24 years.  He was very proud of the work that his team accomplished and nothing was more important than his people.  Barry was well respected amongst his peers and clients.  Barry was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Floridians for Better Transportation and a member of  Holy Family Catholic Church 
 
Barry leaves to cherish his memory, wife Lori  (Swain) Fiandra of Windermere;  daughter Leishana Marie (Gary) Battaglini of Sewell NJ; two sons Carmen Umberto (Elizabeth) Fiandra, of Windermere, Dominic Barry (Catherine) Fiandra, of Winter Garden;  two brothers Joseph (Helen) Fiandra of Warrington PA, Dennis (Mary Jane) Fiandra of Devon PA; mother-in-law Barbara Swain of Sandusky OH; grandchildren Joseph Evangelista, Gary  Battaglini Jr, both of New Jersey, Ayden Fiandra of Windermere, Santino Barry Fiandra of Winter Garden; and numerous nieces and nephews of whom he loved and was very proud of.
 
The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, May 8th, 2014 from 11:30 am until 12:30 pm, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family Catholic Church, Orlando FL, at 12:30 pm with Father Justin Vakko officiating.   Interment will follow the Mass at Winter Garden Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made in Barry's name to the Penn Heart Transplant Program.  Gifts should be made payable to the "Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania" and noted that they are in memory of Barry, 3535 Market Street, Suite 750 / Philadelphia, PA 19104., Attention Jessie McCulley Cherian.  You may also make a gift in Barry's memory online to Penn Cardiovascular at http://www.pennmedicine.org/heart/ by clicking on the "make a gift" link on the right side of the page.  Please remember Barry by giving the gift of life and become an organ donor.

I am very sorry and saddened to hear about Barry. He was a great friend ever since he joined AECOM. I know he will missed greatly by you and the boys as well as all of his friends and co-workers. You and family are in ours prayers and have our sincere sympathy.

My Deepest Sympathy to the Family,,, Losing someone is one of the worst pain no one should go threw,, Thats why in PSALMS 34 :18 " JEHOVA os close to the BROKENHEARTED , He will saves those who are crushed in spirit….."

On behalf of John and Carole Sykes(grandparents of Catherine Fiandra);Maggie Boston(sister of Catherine Fiandra )and Frank and Carole Marco(parents of Catherine Fiandra), I would like to express our sincerest condolences. While we may not have been la famiglia for a long time, in our hearts, we will forever be la famiglia. We will miss Barry's incredible wit, but know that he lives on in our shared grandson, Santino Barry Fiandra. To those whose hearts are aching,we will keep all of you in our thoughts and prayers. John and I were very saddened at the news of Barry's passing. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He was a loving husband and father and always made those around him smile. You will be in our prayers as you all go through this tough time.

I am sorry for your loss please accept my deepest sympathy. I hope you will find your strength and comfort in Jesus promises of the earthly resurrection(:Acts 24:15) and the renewed Paradise earth, where death will be no more and no family will have to mourn the death of a loved one.-Revelation 21:3,4; Luke 23:43.
