Joseph Cleo Harrison

Joseph Cleo Harrison (90), longtime resident of Orlando/Orlo Vista, Florida, died peacefully late Friday night May 31, 2019. He was born in Coffee County, Alabama on Oct. 17, 1928 to Rochelle and Thomas B. Harrison. He served in the Marine Corp in the late 1940's, and married Leona (2017), his wife of 65 years in 1952. He was an avid outdoors man who loved hunting and fishing. And he was especially proud of the time he was involved with Nascar back when Nascar was first formed. He raced stock cars around Mid Florida and up and down the east coast to as far north as Syracuse, NY when young. He was especially proud of the fact he qualified for and entered the final Nascar race ever held on the old Daytona 'beach course'. His career was in construction, primarily rough to finished carpentry, and at one time he also owned and operated a small site clearing and paving business.

“Joe” is survived by his son Joe Harrison (Bobbie) of Melbourne, daughters Christine Lashley of Ocala National Forrest, and Theresa Swander of Altoona. Grandchildren including Tammy (Bryan) Mashburn, Maria (Jason) Fletcher, Kassie (Tyler) Falcon and great Grandchildren Beau Mashburn, Alani Fletcher, Karleigh Fletcher, and Abby Fletcher.

The family will be receiving friends at Dobbs Funeral Home 430 N. Kirkman Road, Orlando, Florida on June 7, 2019 with viewing starting at 10:00 am, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am.  Interment will follow the service at Lake Hill Cemetery in Orlo Vista.
