Cecil Rampersaud Naraine

Cecil Rampersaud Naraine, age 95, of Orlando, passed away Sunday, April 19th, 2020 at Health Central Hospital in Ocoee. Mr. Cecil Rampersaud Naraine, started his life during an extreme humble era on December 1, 1924 in British Guiana. He grew up during the time of World War 2 and the worldwide great depression. He dropped out of secondary school so that he could go to work in the sugarcane fields in order to support his family. Later on, he became a police officer under the British rule and progressed through the rank to detective and presidential bodyguard. In 1969, he retired from the police force and migrated to the United States of America.

He was a pioneer in the true sense. He left Guyana in October 1969 to seek a better life for his family in America. He literally came to this country with only his suitcase and today, he fulfilled his dream and really made a name for himself. He selflessly sacrificed and paved the way for others to follow. Now today, many can look back and attribute their existence and success to him.

As he aged gracefully, he wanted a better quality of life for himself so he moved to Florida in 2003. He celebrated his 95th birthday on 1 December 2019, surrounded by his family and loved ones. Today, he succumbed to his illness and died in the place where he always wanted to be.

He was one of eight siblings and is survived by an older brother, Mr. Harry Persaud, younger sister, Mrs. Pauline Ramrattan and spouse Hilda Singh. He was married to the late Mrs. Dhanie Lilkumar Naraine and Patricia L. Naraine. His children are Shamdai T. Doobay, Kenneth J. Naraine, Roy K. Naraine, Maurice A. Naraine, Ruth I. John Anthony Borsellino

The universe gained a comet, no, rather a star so full of love and life that he could no longer be held in this small planet we call earth.  John Borsellino’s presence was so large that the Lord needed him to brighten the heavens.  The Lord gave him to us for a short time but in that time he made a mighty impact on all those who were blessed to know him.  The Lord called him on February 8, 2020.

Born in the Bronx, but raised in Brewster, NY, John was the oldest son of Santo and Rosalie Borsellino.  He loved to play baseball and football.  His love of the Yankees and the Giants began as a child and remained through good seasons and the bad.

After graduating from Brewster High School John decided to serve his country.  He joined the Navy and was stationed in Hawaii and served on the USS Rathburne.  He said that the time he spent molded him as the man he became.  He always remembered that time fondly and the bonds he made with his naval brothers could not be broken.

When he finished his service he pursued his dream to work in the world of finance becoming a financial advisor.  He loved his work, his clients and especially his firm International Assets Advisory.  He put his knowledge and passion for business and helped to grow the life savings of so many over his 30 plus years in the business.

He always said that his life began one night at a street light on the Post Road in Greenwich, Connecticut.  He and his friend  were out and sitting in the car next to his was a young blonde girl named Michele.   The girl looked over and her life would be forever changed.  That young blonde girl fell in love with his wit, his passion for life and his empathy for others.  That young girl got to share a 24 year journey with the love of her life.  That young girl was treated like a princess and told she was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen on a daily basis.  That young girl never left the house without hearing “I love you” and given a little peck on the lips.  Now, that not so young girl is heart broken that her love has left her.  Her only solace is knowing that the Lord has him in his arms.

For the last 20 years of that journey John and Michele’s world centered around three beautiful, smart and amazing girls.  Madison, Sydney & Alexandra were born one minute apart and each captured their fathers heart instantaneously.  The sparkle that would come in his eyes when mentioning them could energize a small city.  Nothing they did was short of miraculous.  Not sure if you were aware but no smarter children have been born before or since.  John loved to watch everything the girls did and felt that they were destined for greatness.  At age three when they were in ballet he could not understand why the Bolshoi didn’t invite them to perform. When they played basketball, well they were going to be starting for UConn.  As they grew John’s pride in them grew.  Alexandra was a star, she was going to be an EGOT winner before she was 30.  Madison of course was going to be an Olympic Gold Medalist in figure skating.  Sydney, well Sydney was going to be President and save the nation.

The last five years saw many dreams of John’s turn into reality.  He loved seeing Alexandra on stage and performing, Madison skating and Sydney playing volleyball.  His chest puffed out when he saw Sydney give a speech as President of the National Honor Society and Madison give the Salutatorian address  at their high school graduation.  His heart ached when the girls left for college.

Now it is we whose hearts ache.  He will never see Madison graduate from Wake Forest University, Sydney present her thesis before the Ohio University Honors Tutorial College, and Alexandra perform on the Broadway stage.  I will have no more pecks on the lips.

John’s absence will be felt by many including: Wife Michele (Teny), daughters Madison, Sydney and Alexandra. Mother Rosalie Borsellino, brothers Santo and Louis (Colleen) many aunts, uncles and cousins, nieces and nephews.  He will be welcomed into heaven by his father Santo.

We will celebrate his life on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 from 6-8 pm at the Dobbs Funeral Home; 430 N. Kirkman Rd., Orlando, FL 32811.  A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at 10:30 am at St. Andrews Catholic Church; 801 North Hastings, Orlando, Florida.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Madison, Sydney and Alexandra College Fund

He will be forever young.  He will be forever beautiful.
He will be forever My Johnny.

Shirley Rachel Brock Rice

Shirley Rachel Brock Rice entered her new heavenly home Sunday, February 2nd, 2020 at the age of 81.

Shirley was born on August 24, 1938 of her parents Mavis Ara Howell & Huge Clenton Brock in Itta Bena a small city in Leflore County, Mississippi.  Shirley received Christ as her personal savior and was baptized at the age of 10 which led to her eventual acceptance to become a Minister of the Gospel of Christ.  Those who met her knew without a doubt she was filled with the Holy Spirit.

Shirley began working at 13 to support her mother and took on jobs that managers these days cannot compare to. She worked, went to school & nursed her mother for as long as she could but eventually had to quit school. Shirley left nothing unfinished and at the age of 50 earned her High School diploma!

Shirley was married to William Raymond Ride on the 18th of September, 1955 at the age of 17 in Lockhart, Fl and continued to work and complete PI correspondence studies and earned the Air Force Personal Affairs diploma. She never had the opportunity to work as a PI as Raymond feared it would be too dangerous.

In 1964 Shirley & Raymond became parents of their only child Jean.  Shirley was always planning new adventures, exploring new places and brought the love of Gods creation to her family.  Her  favorite pastimes we’re reading her bible, working in the church, sewing, traveling, cooking new dishes from her garden and taking care of her family.

Upon retirement she and Raymond took up wood working and occasionally went on the road selling their creations at festivals and scheduled preaching engagements at various churches throughout America.

Shirley is survived by her daughter Jean Carol, son-in-law Sonny Matta, granddaughter April Nichole Stokes and her fiance' Del Beach, grandson Nicholas Adam Shagena, great granddaughter Harley Brianne Miller, great grandson Kodie Ray Miller,  great granddaughters Chelsea Aleyah Goetz and Braelynne Serenity Beach.

Shirley will be missed immensely but the impact of her life lives on in each of us!

Shirleys day of death or day of life is an anomoly as 02-02-2020 is the exact same backwards and forwards and no matter what Country format is used it is still the exact same.  The last time this happened was roughly 900 years ago!

The family will be receiving friends at 2:00 pm followed by the funeral service at 3:00 pm on Saturday, February 8th, 2020 at Dobbs Funeral Home located at 430 N. Kirkman Road, Orlando FL 32811.  Interment will follow the service at Ocoee Cemetery.

After the graveside service the family will go to
