Roscoe Harrison Smith

Roscoe Harrison Smith, age 69, of Orlando, FL passed away Wednesday, February 15th, 2023 at Health Central Hospital in Ocoee, FL.  He was born in West Point, NY  the son of Sylvia (Jellison) Smith, of Sanford, Maine and the late Ernest Smith.  He served in the United States Navy and was a Rigger in a Naval Ship Yard.

Roscoe is predeceased by his daughter Cynthia Allaire (2016) and leaves to cherish his memory, his mother Sylvia Jellison Smith of Sanford, Maine; wife Donna DeMotte Smith of Orlando; daughter Renee Allen of Orlando; son Nathan Smith of Lebanon,  ME; brother Holland Smith of Lebanon, ME;  six sisters, Christine Valentine, of Rochester, NH; Kathy Roberts, of Dover, NH; Sandra Clough, of North Berwick, ME; Sylvia Healy-Knox, of Wells, ME; Ernestine Place, of North Berwick, ME; Gladys Murry, of North Berwick, ME; and 8 grandchildren.  He will be interred at Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery in Springvale, Maine. 

Virginia Elaine Edmonds Young

 Virginia Elaine Edmonds Young, age 73, loving wife of Anthony “Andy” Young, went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ February 13, 2023 after a two year epic fight with cancer.

Elaine was born September 23, 1949 in Asheville, North Carolina to the late Reverend Oscar S. Edmonds, Jr. and Ellen Landreth Edmonds. She earned her high school diploma from T.L. Hanna High School in Anderson, South Carolina. After high school, Elaine attended the Institute for Christian Service at Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina. After BJU, she graduated from the Anderson School of Practical Nursing, Anderson Memorial Hospital in Anderson, South Carolina.

She met Andy while living in Anderson and they were married on August 18, 1973 in Travelers Rest, South Carolina at Bethany Baptist Church where her father pastored.

Elaine accepted Jesus as her personal Savior as a young girl during a revival meeting under the preaching of evangelist Bill Piper at Rocky River Baptist Church, Iva, South Carolina where her father was pastor.

She and Andy lived in South Carolina, Tennessee, and eventually settled in Florida in 1985. Prior to moving to Florida she worked as a lead reviewer/auditor with the Peer Review Organization (PRO) with the South Carolina Medical Foundation. After moving to Florida, she was employed with the Florida PRO in the Orlando region. She began her career at Orlando Health/Health Central Hospital in 1988 as the UR Coordinator/Nurse Case Manager and retired from Orlando Health/Health Central in 2018 after 30 years of service.

Over the years, Elaine served in her local church teaching children in Sunday School and Children’s church and volunteering at the Center for Pregnancy of First Baptist Orlando.  She loved teaching the Bible and telling Bible stories with great enthusiasm. Serving at First Baptist Orlando since 1990, she and Andy volunteered in 2018 to move to the new campus at Horizon West to teach in the KIDS ministry. At her retirement in 2018 she also volunteered at the Mike Conley Hospice House of Cornerstone Hospice Foundation in Clermont, Florida.   She was also active up until the last month of her illness with the Pillow Project ministry (www.pillowministry.org) to the homeless in Orlando. She stuffed pillows for the ministry when she was not physically able to go to the streets and distribute sandwiches, hygiene kits, pillows, and Bibles.

Elaine is survived by her husband of 50 years, Andy Young and one son, Nathan (Carrie) Young of Orlando, Florida. She has one precious granddaughter, Ella Celeste. One brother, Ret. Col. George (Charlene) Edmonds of Salem, Ohio. Also, a nephew Robert Jason (Elizabeth) Parris of Milton, Vermont, and nieces Katie Elaine (Michael) Catlow of Gaffney, South Carolina, and Julie (Chris) Colquitt of Peachtree Corners, Georgia. A brother-in-law, Sam Parris of Gaffney, South Carolina. She was pre-deceased by her sister Deborah Annabelle Parris of Gaffney, South Carolina.

Pallbearers for Elaine are men from the Peters E-Life Group and the Souldiers for Christ Life Group.

The Celebration of Elaine Young’s life will be at 11 am in the Chapel, followed by a reception in Faith Hall 3^rd Floor.

The burial will be at 2:30 pm at Oak Hill Cemetery, 901 East Avenue, Clermont, FL 34711.

Zephiniah Lee Exume', age 22 of Orlando, passed

away on Monday, January 30, 2023.  He was a native Floridian and the son of Zephiniah Callwood and Casandra Coulanges and was employed in the food industry.

Elenore Carr Granville

     

      Retired Nurse Administrator Stephanie Elenore Carr Granville age 79, of Orlando, FL., passed away

 January 12, 2023 in St. Petersburg, FL.

     Elenore (as everyone knew her) was born on June 30, 1943 in the New York Hospital in New York City.  She is the daughter of the late John Climpson Granville, her father and to Mildred Agatha Granville, her mother whom preceded mom in death.

     They had 5 children, Elenore’s 3 brothers Winston, Stromme and James Carr Granville whom also preceded her in death.  She is survived by 1 sister Julia A. Pegram;  Elenore is also survived by her 3 children, Stephanie E. Meo, Henry John Jackson and Ajewel Granville; daughter-in-law Rose Wesonga Jackson; 10 grandson, 2 granddaughters, 2 great-granddaughters and 1 great-grandson.

     Both her parents were born in Jamaica, West Indies, the family took residence in Harlem to raise their children.  She graduated from Commerce High School in New York and went to St. Francis College for nursing, nursing health administrator where she graduated with both Bachelor of Science degree and her Masters degree. She became a registered nurse and worked at these hospitals to name a few: Bellevue, Elmhurst and New York Hospital where she worked as a charge nurse and retired from her nursing career as a Nurse Administrator.  Elenore also lived in Jamaica West Indies with family and later Los Angeles, California Where she continued to excel in her career as a nurse before returning back to New York.

     She was very loyal to her staff and patients.  Never wanted to leave both and patients without encouraging them and sharing about her (our) Lord Jesus Christ when she had a moments chance.  Mom said, “no patient ever died on her watch while she was their nurse”.  She was loved by her staff and every patient she cared for.  Indeed, she was truly a nurse; this was her true calling.  Once a Nurse, Always a Nurse.   Momma said that God called, chose her to be His very special nurse.  Well Done My Good and Faithful Servant, Come on Home. 

  Our mother’s life touched the hearts of every person she ever came in contact with; family, dear friends, family of God, nursing co-workers, superiors, patients.  Those that were touched by mom understood that mom was very strong, independent woman, in all that she did.

     Her greatest call of all was her relationship with the true and living God Almighty through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit.  Her light shone wherever she went, shared her faith with all those she came in contact with, never ashamed of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.  Even to her final days in the hospital mom was able to share her faith.

     Elenore and her daughter Ajewel moved to Florida in the 90’s to be joined several years later by her daughter Stephanie and her children.  Also her son Henry John (Johnny) and his family.  She enjoyed the years she lived in Florida until she moved to Marietta, Georgia, October 5, 2012.  Mom resided 10 years in Georgia and in her final months relocated back to Clearwater, Florida hoping her next move will be back to Orlando: City Beautiful which she would live until God called her Home

     Elenore accomplished as a little girl, playing the piano to where she played in Carnegie Hall and was well recognized for her talent.  In her adulthood she worked on a charitable organization “International Childcare Conference “The Womb” to feed and care for mothers and children in need of assistance with food, shelter, and healthcare.  She wrote a book “The Cry of a Nurse” re: shortage of nurses, and how important nurses are.

     Her biggest venture is when she went on her 2 favorite game shows, “Let’s Make A Deal”, Wayne Brady “The price Is Right” Drew Carey for her 70thbirthday with her family.  Drew Carey came to her personally and wished her Happy 70^th Birthday, hugged and kissed momma.  What a birthday!  Mom continued on through the years to enjoy her game shows.  We would sit and watch them with her especially when Stephanie, her older daughter came to visit.  What joy would come over her to have her game show buddy with her: Stephanie.  They also watched Christian T.V., had great times in the Lord rejoicing. Prayers were very important, reading, studying the Word.

     Mom enjoyed a couple of other shows such as  TLC – 90 days where she and her younger daughter Ajewel watched and had good laughs with. Our brother Johnny would watch more action movies with her. The best is when the grandchildren, great grands visited and enjoyed and spoiled them.  Her children, grandchildren, great-grands, her sister Julia’s family was most blessed and valuable gift to her from God. 

     When mom transitioned home to Heaven my sister Ajewel and I were with her.  Mom held on waiting for Ajewel and to get to the hospital.  We were blessed to have a few hours with her where we loved all over her still believing and praying mom would make it through and she did: God’s Way!  He has other plans for mom.  Well done my Good and Faithful Servant, come on Home.

     We love you Momma, Grandma, Sister, Auntie, Cousin, dear Friend and will never forget you. You’ll always and forever live in our hearts, minds, memories. Mom taught us her children, grandchildren to great grandchildren to love God, yourself and others.  To be strong, independent, educated, career, compassionate, kind, be a blessing to others, never forget our African American, Caribbean, Cuban, European heritage, but most of all our heritage in Christ Jesus; most important!  Our spiritual life just like all areas in our lives is very important. Jesus the way, the truth, the life!

 

We Love You Momma! Sleep In Heavenly Peace Momma!

Harlan Christopher Squier

Harlan Christopher Squier, 27, passed away on January 16, 2023. He was born on November 6, 1995 to Graham and Melissa Squier in Orlando, Florida.  Christopher, or Chris, as we called him, was always a big personality. He was born into this world in a matter of 35 minutes and never stopped his full speed. Chris was a wonderful child, 98th percentile the doctors would say as he grew. Then, school began and he carried his caring heart to the younger students, especially to the students who needed more. He was always achieving high scores and in the top of his classes. Chris danced competitively, he wrestled on his high school team, he played football and loved all the activity and connections these sports gave him. He couldn't be just a little personality, he was always a big personality, touching as many people as he could with his heart. High School was a challenge for Chris. On the outside he fit in, he looked good, he spoke well and was highly intelligent... but on the inside he was in pain. His addiction began and sadly took his life in the end. Chris went to Asheville, North Carolina and found recovery. Chris' "family" in Asheville meant the world to him, the 8 years he spent in Asheville helped him discover so much about himself. Chris was sober for almost 6 years, but around year 4 he started letting the addict start making choices for him. They were just small choices and they couldn't hurt. If you know addiction, give an inch and it takes a mile. He couldn't stop, it wouldn't let him. His addiction finally took his life, at 27-years-old, for which we are heartbroken, saddened, and shattered.

Christopher is survived by his mother and father Graham and Melissa Squier, his brother and sister in law, Ted and Betsy Coderman, his sister and brother in law, Brittany and Steve Trumbull, and his sister Abbie Squier. He has two nieces, Mae and Maliena and three nephews, Steven, Kane and Witin. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother (Nana), Vernice Andriotis, his paternal Great Aunt, Margaret Johnson and her children and grandchildren, his uncles, Pete Andriotis, Jon Andriotis, Greg Andriotis and his wife Wendy, Alan Squier and his Aunt Susanne Armentrout. He is also survived by his maternal 1st cousins, Pete IV, Gary, Tony, Anita, Gregory Michael and his wife Alisha, Lindsay and her husband Jon, Nicholas, Caroline, Camden and his fiance Hannah, Eric and his wife Anastasia, Jesse and his paternal 1st cousins, Eric and Haley and her husband Steve and second cousins.

A family viewing will take place at Dobbs Funeral Home 430 N Kirkman Rd, Orlando, Florida 32811, Monday evening, January 23rd, at 5:00 pm followed by an open viewing at 6:00 pm for those who cannot make the service on Tuesday.

Services will be provided by Dobbs Funeral Home and held at St. Andrew Catholic Church on 801 Hastings Street, Orlando, Fl 32808 on January 24th. Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and Catholic service begins at 11:00 a.m.

Come as you are, Chris wouldn't want it any other way. This has been very painful to write so we hope we haven't missed anyone. A memorial service for Chris will be held later in Asheville, date/time will be announced once finalized.

Jason E. Guarino

Jason E. Guarino, 47 unexpectedly passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday January 6, 2023 in Orlando Florida. As a father, son, brother, and husband, he was loved by us, and was a vital member of our family as to those that had the privilege to know him and call him friend. His passing has left a hole in our hearts and souls; he will be missed but never, ever forgotten.

Jason was born in Denville N.J., lived in Vernon and graduated Vernon H.S in 1993. He attended Lincoln Technical School majoring in Heating and Air Conditioning. Once H.V.A.C. Certified he worked in the Vernon area before moving to Orlando Florida with his life long friend Alan Puzio. (Jason always hated the cold!) In Orlando he started a successful contracting / remodeling business specializing in Kitchens and Baths in and around the Orlando area. His design skills, craftsmanship, work ethics and attention to details earned him a reputation as one of the best craftsmen in the area. He took pride in making sure the customer was always happy with the finished job and will often work weekends and nights to complete a job on time as promised.

Jason when not working enjoyed being outside, camping, fishing, skeet shooting, quiet time at the beach and playing his guitar with Alan and friends in their band “Maryanns Jacket.” He especially looked forward to his yearly meet up to relax, ride his Harley and camp with his close friends during “Daytona Bike Week”. (You all were and are valued friends of Jason and Teresa. Thank You). Jason passed on his love of Harleys to his son Chase. He loved riding together with him by his side. Sharing the road, his friends, the culture and traditions with his son gave him great joy, pride and the biggest smile.

Jason is survived by his parents Anne Marie and Anthony Guarino, his son Chase Guarino, his wife Teresa Garrigan, brother Lee Guarino, sister in-law Carita Guarino, nephew Townsend Guarino, Uncle Glen and Aunt Marie Guarino, Aunt Deborah Guarino, Aunt Sharon and Uncle James Pendorf and Aunt Adriane Guarino (deceased). Cousins Elaine Gay, James, Lucas, Justin, Joshua, Daniel, Brianne and Dale. He also cherished the company of his fur baby Roxy a 127 lb Rottweiler who still thinks she is and supposed to be a lap dog.

 A memorial service to celebrate Jason’s Life will be held at 11:00 am Saturday February 18, 2023 at the Church of the Ascension, 4950 Apopka Vineland Road, Orlando 32819

  

Guerrier Pierre

Guerrier Pierre, age 57, of Orlando, passed away January 6th, 2023 at Adventhealth  in Altamonte Springs.  He was born in Lagunave, Haiti,  the son of the late Delcame (Paul)  and Fils Aime Pierre and was a retail business owner.

Guerrier leaves to cherish his memory, wife Zilemie (Saimpre) Pierre of Orlando;  five daughters, Guerlite Pierre of Haiti, Guerda Pierre of Paris, Guerdy Pierre, Princess Pierre, and Guerlinda Pierre all of Orlando; three sons Guerson Pierre,  Jean Pierre both of Paris and  Guerrier Pierre of Orlando; 

The family will be receiving friends from 9:00 am until 10:00 am, followed by the funeral service on Saturday, January 21st, 2023 at Christ Sanctified Church of Orlando located at 5717 N. Pine Hills Rd, Orlando with Pastor Marckson Noel officiating.  Interment will follow the funeral service at Orlando Memorial Gardens located at 5264 Ingram Road, Apopka FL.

Robert Charles Sklenka

On Friday, January 06th, 2023, Robert Charles Sklenka of Orlando, Florida passed away at the age of 100 years old. He was a veteran of the 2nd world war. He was born in 1922 in Springfield, Illinois.  He leaves behind several nieces and nephews in Springfield, Illinois . His family is saddened by the loss. He will be buried at our Lady of Mercy Cemetery in Miami, Florida on Monday, January 16th at 12:30 pm.

Zenilda "Zenny" Hewitt

Zenilda Esther Hewitt, 80, of Orlando, Florida, passed away peacefully on December 29th, 2022 from a Wonderful Life and Family.  

MomMom Zenny was a force to be reckoned with in many ways.  She had a strong and loving heart, but she could bring the hammer down in a minute when she needed to.  She aged so beautifully and gracefully, she was like an Angel on earth.  Her faith in our Catholic religion was unwavering and she was extremely dedicated.  When you visited, there was no way you'd get to leave without her beating you in a game of rummy.  She was strong-willed, loving, faithful, and beautiful human being inside and out.  She loved her great grandchildren, grandchildren, sons and daughter, and she adored PopPop.  She will be missed on earth, but now she is with the rest of our heavenly family, probably beating them in rummy.

Zenny was predeceased by her parents Lionel and Maria Zamora, her husband Darrell W. (Butch) Hewitt Sr., her son Dale Wyatt Hewitt and her grandson Jeffrey Allan Cuda. She is survived by six of her siblings, four of her children Wayne, Robert, Nancy and Kevin, along with nineteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

 

Nancy Gayle Hurley Calhoun

Nancy Gayle Hurley Calhoun passed away on January 1, 2023, in Orlando, Florida, of cardiac arrest after a 20-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease.  Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on June 5, 1942, Nancy was reared in upstate New York and the Washington, D.C. area, where she developed a great love for her country.  While attending Ohio Northern University, she met and married Jim Calhoun, the love of her life, who brought her to Mansfield, Ohio where she loved the people but struggled with the weather.  Active in her faith, garden club, drum and dance lessons, Nancy taught her five children to live with faith, humor, humility, curiosity, and service to others. Quick to laugh and bring a smile to everyone, Nancy made every encounter a joy.  She loved the beach, fresh cut flowers, shopping, all things sweet, root beer, entertaining and dressing to the nines. She was the epitome of grace and class.  Her skills and leadership in church positions inspired many and ranged from serving the children, youth and women while keeping the men on their toes.  Her creative talents extended to “Somebunny’s Baskets,” a creative company she began in the 1980’s out of her basement art studio.  Widowed young, she reared her five children in strength and dignity coupled with a lot of  love laughter. Nancy had exceptionally strong faith and gladly shared her witness of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with everyone she met.  She is survived by her five children, William (Pargie) Calhoun and their three children (James, Abbie and Liza), Elizabeth (Rob) Rahter (Madeline, Colton, Bryce, Nathan and Aston), Alyssa (Tyler) Jolley (Emma, Jacob, Jack, Kacelyn, Jaycee and Kade), Holly (Christian) Walker (George, Calhoun and Ella), and Curteis (Tisha) Calhoun (Adley, Anneke, Samuel, Ezra and Truman).  A funeral will be held in Orlando, Florida on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. (viewing at 10 a.m.) at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3000 South Apopka-Vineland Rd., Orlando, FL 32835.  There will be a live stream of the services at the following link https://zoom.us/j/97804187265. A long awaited and sweet reunion, Nancy will be laid to rest in Mansfield Memorial Park next to her beloved Jim. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 14, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Snyder Funeral Home located at 350 Marion Avenue, Mansfield, Ohio followed by a graveside service at noon. 

Yolanda Castro Sanchez

      Yolanda Castro Sanchez died at the age of 69 on Wednesday, December 14^th, 2022. She was the daughter of Juan Castro and Haydee Sanchez. Yolanda is survived by her three children Jose Ramon Aponte, Wanda Ivelise Aponte and Carlos Rafael Maldonado. She was the mother-in-law of Aleida Aponte, Ray Caraballo and Seeta Maldonado. Grandmother of Fernando Almadovar, Jellian and Jesma Aponte, Loida and Justin Caraballo and Isabel Maldonado. Great Grandmother of Emmanuel, Jayden, Gabi and Nathaniel Almodovar. She was the sister of the late Gualberto Sanchez, Haide Castro Sanches and Carlos Rafael Castro Sanchez.

Yolanda Graduated from the University of Puerto Rico where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in nursing. Following graduation, she worked at Hospital Damas in Ponce Puerto Rico and VA hospital in Orange County New York. Apart from nursing she enjoyed cooking for her family especially around Christmas, during this time she would make authentic Spanish foods, a variety of cheesecakes and coconut flan.

Yolanda was at the happiest when she was eating, singing and dancing parranda for Christmas with family and friends. She would dance to any kind of music she could move to. Another joyful moment in her life was watching American Football. She was a Giants fan. Whenever they played, she would scream and jump in excitement. They played Sunday and won.

 Miss Yolanda was also best known for looking fabulous. She always had her hair and nails freshly done and painted red. She always wore heels, something sparkly, red lipstick, black eyeliner and the biggest most beautiful smile. She had a contagious laugh that would make everyone else laugh. She was also known and will always be remembered for her snoring that only Carlito inherited.

Miss Yolanda was the definition of a woman that would give you her last dollar. She would take care of anyone that was sick no matter how she felt. She was the queen of scratch offs and yes, she would win. If she gifted you a scratch off you’d most likely win. Both Carlito (her son) and Justin (her grandson) could attest to that. This Beautiful soul we all lost was one of the strongest woman we’ve ever known. When she puts her mind to something there’s no such thing as can’t. Her advice to everyone is if you worked hard and put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything.

Yolanda will be remembered for so many things, especially the way she treated everyone. It made us all feel like we were her favorite. Today we wish you farewell in your journey to eternity. You are forever in our hearts. Until we meet again. Goodnight, goodbye and sleep tight.

Aloysius Fagundes

 Aloysius Fagundes, age 88, of Orlando, went to the Lord on December 20, 2022.

He was born in Georgetown, Guyana, on August 20, 1934, the son of Jerome and Monica Fagundes. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary Fagundes; his children Lorraine Somowidjojo, Jeffery Jones, Gail Clark, Christopher Pestano, Joan Fagundes, and late Camille Faria; his sons-in-law, Kliwon Somowidjojo, Roland Clark, and Rishy Boodram; daughter-in-laws Kim Jones and Roseann Pestano; his grandchildren Claire, Ian, Jamie, Tanya, Natasha, Nicole, Aaron, Mia, Michele, Natasha, Nicole, Kevin, Ricky, Gerald, Clare, Emily, Maxi, Simone, Percival, Alicia, Desmond, Carlton, Clive, Indira, and Breana; fifty-eight great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, and his too numerous nieces and nephews to mention.

Public Viewing will be held on Monday, January 2nd, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Dobbs Funeral Home in Orlando, FL 32811. The funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2023, at 10:30 AM at Saint Andrews Catholic Church in Orlando, FL.

The family asks that you keep Aloysius in your prayers and continue to pray for the living and the dead.  They ask Catholics to say a rosary in his name and to remember him at Mass.

 

Venice Alexander

Venice Alexander passed today, December 16, 2022 in her home in Orlando, Florida.  She leaves behind her children, Quintin K. Carr, Jasmine M. Carr, Devin H. Peitit Fere; grandchildren Lluvia N. Carr and Zaida Petit Fere.  Venice was loved by all and maintained a smile that would light up a room.

Ryan Thomas Muscanell

Ryan Thomas Muscanell, 34, passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2022. He is survived by his mother and father, Maureen and Edward Muscanell, Sr., and his sister, Nicole Muscanell (Bryan Murch). Ryan was born and raised in Orlando, Florida but decided to return to his family’s home turf in upstate New York. He spent the last few years living in Amsterdam, NY, where he became a homeowner and trained under his uncle to become an HVAC technician. He enjoyed being outdoors riding around in his truck and ATV, hanging out with his neighbors, and spending time with his Newfoundland, Elle. Growing up, Ryan was very athletic and always full of energy. He was a talented baseball player, rotating between pitching, catching, and shortstop—even making the all-star little league teams in Dr. Phillips, Florida. His energy carried into his adult years—he was boisterous, often the center of attention, and could always make his friends and family laugh with his off-the-cuff humor. Ryan could sometimes be stubborn, but he was giving and loyal to those who earned his trust. He will be missed greatly.

Funeral services for Ryan will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023, from 10:00 to 11:30 at Dobbs Funeral Home at 430 N Kirkman Rd, Orlando, FL 32811. Immediately following the service, there will be an escorted procession to Winter Garden Cemetery.

Darrell Lawrence McQueen

Darrell Lawrence McQueen, 67, passed away on December 20, 2022 after a long illness. Darrell was born in Orlando, Florida and spent his early years in Orlando. He moved to Atlanta, GA after graduating with honors from Florida A&M University in 1977. Darrell made his home there and lived in the Atlanta area for 44 years. He worked for the US Postal Service as a clerk for 34 years before retiring in 2020. He was an avid sports fan and loved the Atlanta Braves, Orlando Magic and the Miami Dolphins. 

He is survived by his loving sister, Juanita E. McQueen of Orlando, FL and brother, Randall C. Watts Jr. of Gainesville, VA, three nieces, Courtney L. Frazier of Orlando, FL, Amber N. Watts of Los Angeles, CA, Jordan A. Watts of San Antonio, TX, and one nephew, Randall C. Watts III of San Antonio, TX.  He is preceded in death by his parents, the late Katie L. Golden and William McQueen, both of Orlando, FL.

Richard (Buddha) Gotes Mellano

Richard (Buddha) Gotes Mellano, age 54, passed away at the Orlando Regional Medical Center in Orlando, FL on December 12, 2022 at 6:55 PM. He was born on May 6, 1968 to Lenita Deal in the Philippines.

He was a loving father, son, and brother. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and playing paintball with his friends. He was a character who enjoyed making people laugh. He enjoyed dressing up in silly outfits at work to make his coworker’s day. He attended ITT where he graduated with an engineering degree. He soon started work at Unique Engineering where he was the head engineer. He was a good man who was taken too soon from his family.

Richard is survived by his mother Lenita Deal; 1 brother: Rizalde (Steve) Mellano (wife Shannon); and his daughter Shyanne Mellano (fiance Wyatt). He is also survived by his niece and nephews: Miles (Ruth Anne), Mason (Shelby), Mitchell (Cheyenne), and Mamie (Bryce) and his great nieces and great nephews (Oliver, Felicity, Henry, Audrey). He is preceded in death by his father (Robert E Deal) and brother (Robert Deal Jr). 

Services will be provided by Dobbs Funeral Home on Saturday December 17th, 2022 12pm - 2pm. Viewing is for the family scheduled for 12 pm - 1 pm and will be open to the public at 1 pm to 2 pm; Memorial services will immediately follow. Margaret Hutcheson Pirnat

Margaret Hutcheson Pirnat of Ocoee, FL died peacefully on Friday, December 2^nd at the age of 75 years old. She was born and grew up in Cork, Ireland. Her parents were Christopher "Christy" and Margaret "Sally" O’ Callaghan and she was one of three children along with brother Christopher and sister Elsa. Maggie moved to England as a young adult where she had her first child. She then moved to the U.S. in the early 1970’s where her second and third children were born. She lived briefly in North Carolina before settling in the Orlando area where she has lived since except for a couple of years in Colorado Springs, CO.

After working various jobs, among them at the front desks of bowling centers and as a bus driver, Maggie trained to be a hairstylist. Hairdressing became her passion and one that she was proud of and eager to share. Many who knew her were likely to be offered a haircut at one time or another. She loved bowling and the Orlando Magic. She loved her dogs, Gypsy and Nikki, and her many cats. She is survived by her sister Elizabeth (Elsa) O’ Callaghan, her children Tony Hutcheson, Gina Boaze, and Chris Pirnat and her grandchildren Zachary Boaze, Clare Lynn Hutcheson, Zoë Boaze, Zayne Boaze, and Reese Pirnat.

Olga Rodriguez

 Olga (Augie) Rodriguez of Orlando Florida went with the Lord on December 2, 2022. She was 75 years old. Augie was born in Arroyo, Puerto Rico. She moved to New York with her parents and siblings, where she met her loving husband Jose “Joe” Rodriguez in the Bronx, New York. 

They were married on May 21, 1968. Together they raised their two sons Jose “Jojo” Angel Rodriguez Jr and David Rodriguez. Augie and Joe worked very hard to buy their house and moved to Orlando Florida in 1990.

Augie was a true businesswoman. She loved to haggle no matter what the situation was. Throughout their hardworking years Augie also was known to party. She was an excellent dancer. She loved music,  hosting parties to celebrate different occasions. She made many friends and acquaintances. 

Augie was also a devoted Catholic. She was a parishioner of the Catholic faith throughout most of her life. She participated in the ministry of the Eucharist and joined the prayer groups at St. James Cathedral and Holy Family Catholic Church. 

Anyone who knew Augie would say she was a feisty, fun-loving, strong, very outgoing, persistent, tenacious and definitely tough woman. She was a fighter. She loved to talk, laugh, dance, cook and go on vacations. 

In 2004 Augie became a grandmother of twin boys- Joshua Joseph Rodriguez and Lucas Angel Rodriguez who she loved dearly. To them she was known as “Wella”. She was their loudest and proudest cheerleader at their games. She was loved by so many and will be greatly missed. 

She is survived by her husband Jose “Joe” Angel Rodriguez,  sons Jose “Jojo” and David Rodriguez, their spouses Patricia Lugo and Isa Feliciano, her grandsons Joshua and Lucas Rodriguez. Her brothers: Nestor, Robert, Jose, Jorge and William and her sister Ana along with her many nieces and nephews.

Valeshia Anne Lloyd

Valeshia Anne Lloyd daughter of Mr. Ronald Lloyd and Mrs. Odessa Lloyd, was born February 9, 1971 in Charleston, SC. She received her education in the public schools of Charleston, SC. She also went to trade school for culinary at Job Corp, Bamberg, SC. Valeshia was baptized at Church of Christ. Valeshia was a kind soul. Since she was a kid; she was smart, kindhearted, and spiritual. Valeshia was a babysitter, caregiver, and friend. She loved to read and tell stories. Which explains her love of the library. The love of music and movies is her ultimate passion. Valeshia could tell you about any movie and tell you the title or artist of any song. She had a thing for Asian movies from Kungfu to Godzilla. Valeshia fell in love with K-pop. Her favorite band was BTS. She loves to debate. Do not try to correct her on any facts, she will get a book or her phone to prove herself. In the end, Valeshia will truly be missed. Miss her short and to the point phone calls, her wish list text messages, her coming out of her room to tell us current events we already know, falling asleep as soon as the movie starts during family movie night, requests for fast food, and random conversations. We love you Mummy, Vallie, Grandma, Shawshank, and many other nicknames where she would respond, “Don’t call me that”.

Valeshia Lloyd was preceded in death by Susie Lloyd, Jane Wilcher, Odessa Lloyd, Ronald Lloyd Jr, Rodriquez Whitlock, Alfonzo Smith, Juanita Smith, Ronjanae Smith, Malacki Lloyd, William Lloyd, Kenneth Lloyd. Her legacy will always and forever remain in those that she leaves to cherish her Faithfulness, her love, her dedication to her father, Mr. Ronald Lloyd Sr. Her siblings: Dorie Harris (John), Shanita Lloyd, Sandra Hardy, Victoria Smith, Ronald Smith(Christan), Yasheca Smith, and Michael Lloyd; Special nieces Jasmine and Justice (Jean); aunts Eva White, Katie May Shivers, Susie Pringle (Elijah), Carolyn Hawkins (Darnel). She also leaves behind a host of Aunts, Uncle, Nieces, Nephews, cousins and friends.  

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am at Dobbs Funeral Home on Saturday, December 10, 2022 with Rev. Dr. Tommy Pringle officiating.

 

Glenn Ramdial

Glenn H. Ramdial of Orlando, Florida passed away on Saturday, December 3rd, 2022.  He was 72 years old.  Glenn was born in San Fernando, Trinidad on December 9th, 1949.  He grew up in San Fernando and attended elementary school at Grant Memorial Presbyterian School, followed by St. Davids College.  He worked with his grandmother (mama) at Ramdials Roti Shop as well as helped his dad with his business.  He was then employed by Onasis Shipping company.  Glenn then went to England where he met the love of his life.  Glenn and Merlyn got married in 1976 and built a beautiful family in the UK.  They had two children, Jason and Sheryl Ramdial.

Glenn was a kind, gentle and a very  humorous man.  He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud papa and a very special uncle.  His family meant the world to him.  He loved his grandson JJ with all his heart.  He had a fantastic sense of humor.  Glenn loved to play the Iron and got both his children involved with the steele pan.  He enjoyed Arc welding and, HVAC work.  

Glenn is survived by his son Jason Ramdial, his daughter Sheryl Ramdial and their mom Merlyn Ramdial, his grandson JJ Ramdial, his sister Margaret Durham, his nephew Neil Mohamed and nieces Charmaine Mohamed and Kimberly Chauharja Singh, along with many others he has adopted along the way.  

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday December 9th, 2022 at Dobbs Funeral Home from 3-4 pm followed by a service from 4 - 5 pm.

We are not only gathered to celebrate his life but to also celebrate his birthday.

Victor L. Schuck

Victor L. Schuck, born to Victor and Dorothy Schuck in Hastings on the Hudson, New York, passed away by Dec 2 at 7:50am.

He was the first born of the five boys born to Victor and Dorothy. He joined his parents and Donald and Lawrence in heaven, leaving Gerry and Kevin to lead the family on. 

His family moved to Florida in 1948. In 1951 Victor married Janice Conner and they had a wonderful life together for 62 years until the Lord called Janice home on Oct. 15, 2013. They were blessed with four children, Teresa (Doug Rouse), Gregory (Donna), Stephen (Cathy), and Matthew. They had eight grandchildren; Ami, Jim (deceased) (Samantha), Nate (Joy), Susie (Kenny Smith), Rebekah (Taylor Nevin), Phillip (Jill), Daniel (Alicia), and Scotty (Luann). And 19 great grandchildren, 5 girls.

Victor thanked God every day for the blessings God gave him and for his family!

The family will be having a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 am on January 4 , 2023 at St. Mary of the Lakes Church, located at 218 Ocklawaha, Eustis, FL 32726. 

Carla Lyn Ward

Carla Lyn Ward of Orlando, Florida died peacefully in her home surrounded by family on Wednesday November 30th, 2022, She was born November 10th, 1952 in Ypsilanit, Michigan to Carl and Mildred Sokolitsky.  With her father being in the military, she was able to travel all over the world, with Taiwan being one of her favorites. She enjoyed sharing her knowledge of different cultures with her family. She found and fell in love with Kenneth Ward, and they were married on December 8, 1972, who survives her in death. Their love lasted 50 years and was filled with love and many adventures. Carla leaves behind two daughters, Lauren Eddy of Knoxville, TN along with Katie Shinew and her husband Jason of Oviedo, FL. She is also survived by three loving grandchildren Liam Eddy, Jacob Shinew and Victoria Shinew. She lived her life as a devoted wife, daughter, mother and grandmother. She loved having everyone over for weekly dinners, and especially watching her grandchildren swim and spend time with them.  Some of her most enjoyable pastimes were sharing her artistic abilities through painting and drawing, even gifting hand painted ornaments to her beloved family and friends.  She loved providing a small token of brightness to  lives, where they proudly displayed the ornaments in their homes. She also loved the company of her cat, Ripley, who could be found curled up in her lap while she talked on the phone or watched television.  She will be missed greatly but she will live on through her family and her memories. 

Wilfredo Rodriguez

The Day The Music Stopped

All who knew Freddie know he loved music.    He had a collection of more than 1,000 CDs. He listened to music all day, and every day, at all times; so, our home was never in silence. In order for me to have TV time or listen to my favorite tunes, I had to beg. At times, even I used to clean the house with music in the background blasting, and even the neighbors enjoyed the tunes. So, that for sure is the reason why our son became a guitar player and loves music.

When I had to place Freddie in an assisted facility, I came to a home possessed by silence.    Even though I wanted to have some quite time, this was painful because I had a feeling that the end was near.

He was my husband for 50 years, the one I used to dance with -- oh boy and he was a great dancer, he even won some dancing shoes in a TV program in Puerto Rico, comparable to “american band stand”.   He loved playing the conga and drums and entertain his guests at home.  He was a great host, and we were known for our home parties.  We surely had fun.

He was a great worker, winning many stars at Disney’s Planning Center, a job he greatly enjoyed and retired from with 15 years of service, wining the respect of his co-workers and supervisors.

As a father he was an example of responsibility.   Taking his son to the Bronx Zoo was a yearly tradition when summertime came, as it was going to the beach and to wrestling matches. As Tito grew, going to concerts and seeing him play was what made him happy.

Then came that little red-headed jewel called Vivi. She came into our lives and, because of the distance from Orlando to New York, we used to Skype, to take part in her growth.

Every weekend, boy! he looked  forward to those Sundays were we were called  grandma and grandpa and hear our granddaughter’s stories. Seeing her grow was his greatest joy, as well as seeing her drawings and the greeting cards she used to send us.

Freddie loved his brothers and was very proud of them, especially Golo, who had the same music talent as he did. He loved my brother since he first met him, and he will always be his “Carlitos”. He loved my family: Pilar, Sonia, Nestor, Miguel, Frank, cousins Wilma and Diana.

As you can imagine, the love of my life for 50 years, the one I promised to be there with in sickness and in health, is no longer with us, and our home is in silence now!

Oh boy! St Peter you better watch out!!! You now have the best members of the Rodriguez Rivera salsa group: Tio Julio in timbales, Walter in congas and Freddie in the drums.  There is no stopping them now. From here to eternity, they will be playing, and Heaven will be jamming. I will hear them for sure!

Therefore, in his honor and cherished memory, let the music play non-stop and let’s have a fiesta, and you are welcome to dance!

Frank Joseph Niemas, Jr.

Frank Joseph Niemas, Jr. of Orlando, Florida passed away on Saturday, November 19th 2022. He was 76. 

Frank was born in Newark, New Jersey on March 18th, 1946. He was the son of Frank and Teresa Niemas and younger brother of Terry Lasiewski. 

He grew up in HIllside, New Jersey and attended Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey. Frank received his Master’s degree at Florida Institute of Technology (now UCF). He worked at Martin Marietta now known as Lockheed Martin for over 30 years. Frank was a mechanical engineer. Arline referred to him as a rocket scientist, because he worked on control systems of missiles.

Frank met the love of his life on Valentine’s Day on a blind date. Frank and Arline both knew immediately that God had put them together. Frank used to say that it wasn’t by chance that they met, that it was God who placed them together.  Seven months later they were engaged and were married a year later. Frank and Arline were married at Sacred Heart Church in Carteret, New Jersey on July 11th, 1970. 

Frank and Arline made a life changing decision by moving to Orlando in 1972. They have resided in Orlando ever since. They were married for 52 years.

Frank was a kind, gentle, intelligent, and humorous man. He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud papa, and special friend. Frank was a faithful man who inspired others by living his life. Frank was a devoted member of the Companions, a lay association of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood. He truly understood Precious Blood spirituality. His family meant the world to him. When he was able to, he was the first to get on the ground and play with his grandchildren. He had a fantastic sense of humor and had an amazing ability to draw you into his story only to find out he was pulling you into his joke. He only gave it away with a little smirk. Frank loved to sing loudly even if he didn’t know the words or the language. He had a tremendous love of trains. He had trains set up in his basement with his dad. He loved White Castles, history, and green Creme de Menthe. He enjoyed barbecuing for family and friends especially in his backyard. He loved the underdogs and especially the New York Mets and Brooklyn Dodgers. 

Frank is survived by his wife Arline, daughters Heather Niemas, Jennifer Gilbert (Scott), grandchildren, Lucas Niemas, Cole Niemas, Madeline Gilbert, Benjamin Gilbert, and Oliver Gilbert. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Teresa and his children, Frank and Mary, who were born too early. 

A visitation for family and friends will be held at Dobbs Funeral Home from 5-7 pm on Monday, November 28th. The funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, November 29th at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church at 11 am. The address is: 834 S. Orange Blossom Trail, Apopka 32703. There will be a reception immediately following the funeral at the Parish Hall.
